Sadly nothing like. Think fat, lardy 4 door 996.

That's what coupes/roadsters are for. With saloons the form has to follow function.

The mid 70s XJ6 with it's higher grille and chrome bumpers - supremely elegant from any angle.

Citroen CX - again fantastic from all angles (unlike the DS from behind)

The Monica GT - almost but iffy in some details

There are also a surprising number of stunning American 4 door sedans like this batwing Impala though Impalas were, in general, good looking cars.

How about the Citroen C6 from 2005/6? Not necessarily the best looking saloon but was a very nice piece of design, looks a bit dated but still sorta classy.

The E34 & E38 have to be up there, and IMO with the right alloys/trim the E60 is still a fresh looking car even after all these years. Have to nominate the the Alfa 159 and the original CLS too.

I always thought the B7 A4 was a nice looking car too.

The best looking saloon debate will go on forever and no one will have the right answer.

Wow. You seriously think that car is the “best” looking ever? eek
That was his choice for best looking saloon, not best looking car ever rolleyes

E36 was a cracker, in my humble opinion. Really sharp.

As in, best looking four door saloon ever?

No. no it isn't. I could pull 10 from this thread alone that would be better looking.

Nope, not best ever at all. Just providing more food for thought. Or am I not allowed to post?

Since the thread title is 'What's the best looking 4 door saloon ever?' I would have thought that there was little point in posting a picture of anything that the poster didn't consider the best looking ever.

Otherwise you are just posting 4 door saloons. Not quite the point is it?

It's a very subjective thread, no need to get caught up in red tape and demand perfection with every post wink

It’s plainly obvious that I meant saloon. It is clearly in the thread title! rolleyes

This gets brought up quite often but I never understand it. What exactly makes the pre facelift 156 better looking? To me the facelift is a pretty, more cohesive design.

I certainly like the old ones best, but I can see why some prefer the facelift. to me, the later ones are more aggressive, and not so pretty- which is the car's strength.

Some of the early ones (perhaps the rare 1.6?) don't have the plastic sill extensions- to me they look the best, purity of shape and looking lighter.

Got to agree with you on the 405 and to a lesser degree the 406 as well.

I decided that the Evo IV-VI (this ones a V) is my best looking saloon, also like the 4dr E46 3 Series, E34 and E39 5 Series, Lotus Carlton and Sierra Sapphire Cosworth.

I can’t believe people posting all these boring and fugly looking BMW’s. Not saying they are bad cars. I like a few of them. But you’ve got to be pretty mental to think they LOOK the BEST EVER.

If someone said draw a sexy or sleek looking car. You’d not end up with anything looking like a BMW.
Couldn't agree more. Decent cars no doubt..... but best looking? Totally bland.

The various Alfas though.... lovely.
Thread title is best LOOKING 4 door saloon ever..... not most pretty or most sleek or sexy etc.

Looks are always a subjective thing with anything in life.

Personally i cant stand chintzy Americana from the 50's and 60's but i love boxy 70's and 80's European saloons.

Give me an E28 BMW, Mk2 Granada or a Merc W116. etc.

Or.....
