What’s the best looking 4 door saloon car ever?
Discussion
The facelift always looked a bit bland to me compared with the original. Like Alfa we’re trying to be a bit more German with the design. My pick would be the 156 GTA over all but I’m biased lol.
I also prefer the original 166 to the facelift for the same reason.

This gets brought up quite often but I never understand it. What exactly makes the pre facelift 156 better looking? To me the facelift is a pretty, more cohesive design.
The body has a visual 'centre of mass' quite high, around the top of the wheelarches, because that's where it's widest. The original front end, with the lights 'pointing' horizontally inwards and the shallower shield grille, also places the focus relatively high up, so fits with the body. The facelift headlights 'point' downwards, combined with the deeper grille it makes the front look more 'hunkered down', with a lower visual centre of mass. This would be ok if it was a whole new car, but it's mismatched with the unchanged original body shape.
Additionally, the original's slit vents around the grille echo classic Alfas like the 8C 2300 Monza, so are a nice link back to Alfa's glory days, whereas the facelift's Almera-esque lights and Audi-style grille could front any car.

Thread title is best LOOKING 4 door saloon ever..... not most pretty or most sleek or sexy etc.
Looks are always a subjective thing with anything in life.
Personally i cant stand chintzy Americana from the 50's and 60's but i love boxy 70's and 80's European saloons.
Give me an E28 BMW, Mk2 Granada or a Merc W116. etc.
Or.....

Lovely cars they made the Grifio with the ‘penthouse’ to accommodate the big hemi is one of my all time favourites strangely the company is an example that buying technology from a mass producer and put it in a bespoke body and chassis can go wrong also although this is often described as the best recepy for small(ish) manufacturersGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
