This place is odd sometimes. There's a Duesenberg, a DS and a handful of Jaguars listed yet still some are proclaiming a nondescript old BMW taxi as being the best looking in this category.

I particularly like the badge which is clearly designed to impale any pedestrian foolish enough to get in the way. Shortly after the driving lamps have taken their kneecaps out. hehe

Once again PH shows me how far out of step my taste in cars is.
Same here - I'm afraid I just can't see the attraction in generic German stuff. My choice (soon to be slated too, probably hehe ) ...

1965/66 Lincoln Continental. Not only the best looking, but the ultimate in 4-door saloon cool.

I'd pick most 1960s Americana over the European equivalents, though.

Same here; nothing against modern Germanic rep mobiles but if asked to chose a 4 door I’d be in love with, it would be this caddy

yes I don't get all these modern(ish) German cars people are suggesting, most of them are about as attractive as a Montego to me, but that doesn't make them wrong.

Been mentioned a few times in this thread, but another pic won't hurt. Closely followed by the Citroen DS.

Despite my bmw e28 fetish, I must admit I’ve always fancied a 59 Cadillac Fleetwood. Definitely rates high for best looking 4 door saloon.

Damn that is a cool looking car. The side profile looks more like the Porsche Mission E concept than the actual production Taycan thing..

Well I agree with you. Nondescript, soon to superceded grey Audis and Beemers as best looking saloon car ever....?

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but come on. And as for that Volvo someone posted; todays crash regs make it almost impossible to design a good looking car let alone the best-looking ever.

It probably has to come from the 60s or 70s. Original XJ6 was a pretty good-looking car.

That photo is cheating. Side view is gorgeous, but the front looks like Terry Thomas

I'll go for the pre-facelift Alfa 156, not the GTA as I think that squared off lower bodykit on a curvy car just looks...well, not nice.

The last of the NA V8 Maserati Quattroportes and even though I'm not a fan of German cars, I'd go for the BMW 5 Series E39. I think it's a lovely looking car.

These are just from the top of my head.

Asethetically though, I would have to say the aformentioned Citroen DS or Series 1 Jag XJ has to be top of the list.

My personal favourite though would be a Jag S-Type, largely though for sentimental reasons.

Nothing said it had to be a road car. These are by far the best looking saloon cars.

I can’t believe people posting all these boring and fugly looking BMW’s. Not saying they are bad cars. I like a few of them. But you’ve got to be pretty mental to think they LOOK the BEST EVER.

If someone said draw a sexy or sleek looking car. You’d not end up with anything looking like a BMW.

For a 'compact' saloon ( I think smaller saloons are the hardest to pull off without creating something that looks like a hatch with a storage trunk attached) I struggle to think of something lovelier than the original Alfa 156 - pre 02 facelift and with no extra adornments:

Thinking a little further back the Citroen DS is something to behold as well... Possibly not so pretty, but differently stunning - I can only imagine the visual impact it had when it was launched in the mid-50s.
