As a boy I thought a Jaguar Mk X was the bee's knees, although the XJ6 probably has a better aesthetic.

Alfa-Romeo 156 pre-facelift, and I still miss mine.

I remember coming across a gleaming black Maserati Quattroporte parked in Edinburgh a few years back, made me stop in my tracks and walk round it a couple of times.

Some British tin is nicely under-stated - Triumph Dolomite, Rover P5 and P6.

As the DS has already been mentioned. How about something like this.

And a nod to these too:

But my favourite 4 door saloon. Mega rare Audi RS2 saloon.

Did the RS2 Saloon ever make production? There's the one pictured at the Audi museum, another one that found it's way to a collector in the Gulf somewhere, and er, that was it wasn't it?

Not dislike. If someone said post a capable or even fast saloon car. The. BMW have made many that fit this bill. But best looking! I’ve owned a few BMW’s and have no dislike of the brand at all. But almost all of their cars ever are pretty boring to look at.

As much as I like the E500 and Alfa 156, for me this has to be the best ever!

I agree, and dream of one every time I buy a lottery ticket.

yes Had the question been "best saloon car", I think the thread would legitimately be full of German cars... but for me personally there's not a single modern German saloon which belongs in the top 10 "best looking"; probably not even in the top 50.

Each to their own though.

Genuinely can't see any appeal to these whatsoever, it has no redeeming features, I mean yes you can't see the outside when you're driving but then you get inside it and there is no relief, this would be me if I ever had to get in one

I still enjoy photos of my old, 2005 QP.

So beautiful to behold in this colour.

That version of the QP is the prettiest saloon car (modern one anyway) they spoilt the lines with the facelifts.
