It is interesting how much the change in Boxster/Cayman engine configuration has caused such polarisation of views. Having owned a 981 which I loved, I thought some extra power and, in particular, torque would be perfect. But much as I didn’t want it to be the case, I couldn’t get over the fundamental change in character wrought both by the sound (yes sorry, I’m in that camp) and power delivery - now laggy and delivered with a surge in turbo torque, rather than linear and razor sharp throttle response. So I bought a 991.2 instead - less laggy and a six pot (still a surge of torque though). Can’t help thinking that the 981 will be sought after in time to come...
