Wrong colour skin unfortunately, won’t get a fraction of the coverage of a burnt building in France.

I know that’s an awful thing to type but I’m increasingly depressed about the state of humanity on this planet.

Fairly awful, yes.
Have you thought about stepping away from the internet? It isn't helping you.

It's the main item on the news this morning. Who's not covering it?

I don't think it is about skin colour. It's about familiarity. When something happens in a country very much like your it has a greater impact, therefore sells more papers/views.

Sri Lanka is, in many ways, much like our Country, for fairly obvious reasons.

Terrible news. I’ve spent many happy times there, the most recent a couple of months ago.

It’ll be interesting to see who is behind it; the attacks are apparently against Christians, at least at the churches and obviously the timing suggests that.

Unlikely the Tamils, that wasn’t their MO in the past so whilst they are still, largely, treated very badly in SL and have grounds for resentment, it’s likely some other group behind this.

Home grown Muslims, Buddhists or even ex IS fighters coming back from Syria etc? If the latter, maybe a pointer there to how we should view our returning ‘citizens’)

Sometimes buildings are more newsworthy than people, perhaps that shouldn't be the case but it is. A twelve century cathedral is a very big deal and I am sure that terrorist attacks, in Russia say, have attracted less media coverage than that of the fire.

Love Sri Lanka. Stunning country. Awesome people.

Everywhere they are, they're really unhappy and angry.

Lucky it's only a small percentage of the billions of them apparently...

Lucky us.

Climate change? I know what is more damaging to the world.

Whoever it's is... the authorities will kick the st out of them.

Probably be against their human rights or something in this country.

The average person on the UK couldn't point it out on a map, but I wasn't being specific about SL.

It was in response to the posters assertions that it won't get coverage because it's brown people.
