Say what you want but you can’t tell me that doesn’t look cool, in its own way.
I really like the Bentley Mulsanne, not because it’s pretty, but actually because it’s ugly, big fat fk off of a car.
I feel the same for the new 7, imagine that in 750i guise with the 520 bhp V8 bolting off....I don’t know why but I like big ugly fast cars, there’s something about them!
Totally agree with you, I think it looks cool. I also like the 320d as well as the new X7 but then I'm not poor. I really like the Bentley Mulsanne, not because it’s pretty, but actually because it’s ugly, big fat fk off of a car.

I like the facelifted 7 as well, it looks quite brutal and imposing, you'd need the 50i or 60i to carry the look off though not quite the same with a 30d.
Are you honestly telling me you think it wouldn’t look better with a grill half the size? (or perhaps even smaller) Because it looks utterly ridiculous to me. It’s not good design, just maximum branding which does seem to be the current trend in a marketing driven world.B'stard Child said:

You are right about the six banger BMW engines they really are great engines
The 4 cylinder 2 Litre Turbo in this current model isn't too bad in fairness, and in some ways I actually prefer it to the old N/A 3 Litre engine. I'd be very interested in your impressions - kinda torn between a 228i and a 125i or 135i coupe (I know the 135i is blown but the running costs aren't much different to the 125i)
The engine revs very smoothly for a 4 cylinder and in the 530i mated to the ZF8 auto I thought it felt very refined. It doesn't have the hunger for revs like the old N/A engine but as an engine to use daily I actually prefer the way it delivers its performance.

Peak 3 series was the E46. Understated and rather elegant to look at.
From there on in, the designs date rather quick.

(Ignore the fact that my bonnet catch didn't 'catch' on the passenger side )
Interesting that the old E12 pictured earlier in this thread has the same shut line halfway up the front as the old 3 series is being derided for, but for vastly different reasons I suspect (Manufacturing)
No worries the tasteless yob brigade will love it, thus taking the brand even further down market.
So where does one go for a classy premium saloon or sports car these days that is not as common as muck, without stigma or the social baggage that will not label you as a flash rich berk?

Looks ever so slightly better being silver BUT it's still too bulbous. The picture of the E46 posted above looks so different. Like they are entirely different companies.Yes the bangle era raised eyebrows but I actually liked the E60 on launch. Whatever way you spin it the 7 series grille is bloody silly
