You listen to headphones as you drive along is that serious
It's certainly not very clever - unless you want to nicked for "driving without due care and attention".

The argument (from the police's point of view) is that hearing is one of the usual senses a person has -- and intentionally impairing that sense means not being fully aware of the surroundings during driving.

Yes, we know the deaf and disabled can drive. But a complete person would be likely to get get nicked for driving with one leg out of the window.....

Honestly it isn't a very good car if it's going to permanently damage your hearing, what a stupid price to pay to enjoy driving a vehicle!
Same with Caterhams - try driving one to the South of France without any ear protection...Fine for a short blast but hours on end is not going to do you any good long term.

As said before, your "stupid price" is not an issue for me. I would look at your car and its inevitably dull steering and probably say "what a stupid price to pay having a dull, boring car". Etc.

Anyway, we digress from the topic...!

This thread has turned into 'promote your own car'
Anyone would think it was a car enthusiast’s forum. Odd that people like their own cars!
Like your own car and call everything else crap was the point I was making.
We've had numerous nice cars in our household but never thought the need to rain on anyone else's parade.

Driving listening to music over headphones to cut out the engine noise is not cool

To be drowning Out an engine that would cause hearing loss is likely cutting out all the ambient noises that would potentially avoid a collision

But I disagree with skiing/snowboarding down a piste with headphones too ...

Nice cars you are clearly a wealthy man with good taste

Drowning out a noise with a louder noise is called 'masking' and is in fact exposing you to a much louder noise than the original noise.

Not sure I said anything about a louder noise or not being able to hear anything outside. But thanks for your concern for my well being smile

I find the Lotus perfect ably bearable and with headphones, I can easily listen to music over the noise of the straight cut 'box.
I think that's where the confusion came from

Definitely some confusion there then. My ears are fine, everyone is safe and no kittens have died.

Now back to the 911 vs R8...
