Lots said this 320d doesn’t rev to 5,500rpm and many said beyond 4K revs the rev counter is there for the sake of it you cannot rev it to the redline as it will change up.... well Autocar have maximum achieved speeds at 5,200rpm in all gears where it could pull that all but 7/8th I believe
Can you imagine the nasty racket that would make. A 4 pot diesel at full tilt is one of the ugliest sounds you can hear.

5200rpm in the Lexus is a rather distinguished baritone but distant roar.

Let's just admit it - an LS460 is by far the better car biggrin

And also what, twice the price when new? Also significantly less economical, handles worse, looks like a hearing aid, vastly inferior technology, and typically driven by the sort of people who only wear shades of beige. But yes, it has a V8 that manages to sound better than a 2.0 diesel 4 banger. Kudos to the Toyota engineers who pulled off that incredible feat of engineering.

Also, nearly 200 posts in 1 month? That’s quite impressive, although I’m willing to bet about 190 are comparing the Lexus LS460 to completely different cars in an attempt to prove some bizarre point.

Now you are trolling and being very silly.

Why are we debating or even discussing the merits of a boring common as garden saloon with a nasty engine barely fit for a van powering it.

This is nuts - this is a petrol heads site - not a photocopier salesman's forum.

Indeed it is a petrol heads site. So why are you here? You talk about sound of a car when you have a standard exhaust on your 111R....hilarious.

This thread is about a 320d

Mods, why aren’t you banning this troll for repeatedly derailing the topic?

When someone who considers the 2009 Lexus LS460 dynamically superior to most cars on the road calls me silly, I take it as a complement.

The ‘looks like a hearing aid’ comment was my personal opinion, but I’m willing to bet your average LS driver is significantly older than that of a 320d (or any other BMW for that matter) and we all know what colour the older generations tend to favour...

I also have a nice LS460 and if you care to read back through the thread I discuss other cars I've owned.

None are as beige and nasty as a 320d biggrin

Ignoring everything that is incorrect in your post, people are discussing the 320D because this is a thread about the 320D.

There may be threads elsewhere in which people have any interest in discussing Lexus LS460s, but strangely this isn’t one of them.

Actually, IMHO yonex is spot on on this occasion.

Exactly. What kind of moron clicks on a link to a thread for which the title includes "320d", only to question why everyone is discussing the 320d, whilst repeatedly referring to the 320d?

I guess doing 40k miles a year doesnt really help your mental health (I would change job in that situation) and clearly leads to on line self harming, particularly when you have very poor self awareness (in addition to everything else). He is probably a photocopier salesman, hence the classic Freudian projection (like calling others troll) and absurd stereotypes.

I reckon this thread is about the 320d, not an old barge.

I do actually like the LS but I wouldn't spend more than £3k on one to smoke about it.

You have lost any credibility with this Lexus talk. I am not sure you have a Lotus to be honest...any pics?
