I can't believe no one has mentioned the BEST use of this engine.......the ZX 16v!! But then again I may be biased! But it is rarer than the 405 going by how many left.....

Great article. It was my 405 for sale and yes it was a great car. The interesting end to the story is that the car is on its way to Hong Kong. Guy over there is a big fan and has been looking for one for ages.
Can't help thinking I sold it too cheap.

I had a standard 405 4x4. Really nice car and drove nicely. Wish I'd kept it. Only purchased to tow a caravan back from Cornwall (Long story).

I'd go for the BX myself, but they must be not too far off extinction.

Achingly pretty for a sensible saloon, comfy, handling that a modern BMW would love to have and a perky engine.

Aside from rust and the usual issue of getting parts for any French car, I can’t see why these aren’t more popular than they are. Or the 406. Both of them had BTCC credentials, too.
