Targa Strut Pins

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get hold of some of these fasteners that attach my targa strut to the brackets. Female half shown below, the male half has a screw thread and the same rivet head. I've looked at the usual supplier web sites but can't find any reference to them.

Can't help with a supplier but to aid your search I have seen that type of fixing used in two different applications.

• Used in a 'ring binder' type of application for things like workshop manuals.
• Used to secure two kitchen cabinets to each other.

Try searching on Barrel bolts, Sex bolts and Connector bolts.

Had the same issue on the Tam and we couldn’t find the part, but my “TVR guy” found a solution, I’ll ask him and let you know

Have had a closer look at the remaining pins and they appear to be nothing more than some 6mm aluminium tube (1mm wall thickness) held in place by pop rivets at each end. Easy to replicate.

Having seen the shape of you original pin I would be looking at a better solution such as a button headed bolt and a dome nut.

I don't want to put a hard thread in the pivot points as this will increase wear on the softer strut material. I will look further into something like a 6mm shouldered screw with M5 thread and dome ends or 6mm Ali tube and put a M4 screw with suitable ends through it for location.

Look for suit case wheel pivots ...or skate board axles or in-line skate axles. Ebay 162586942748. These are for 8mm bearing BUT there has to be the size you want somewhere. A@
