Looks like it was designed by AI, or a classroom of kids. Looks awful.

I haven't felt the need to cross the continent by car since the 1990s. Easyjet and Ryanair saw to that.
Hmm, driving a Mclaren or be herded and crammed onto massive pressurized tube of seething resentment, farts and desperation ?
Personally I like the idea of a road trip from time to time and in any case we'd struggle to get all our gear down to the Lake Como apartment in a cabin bag.

Haha! That sounds like a typical holiday drive with my family.

Burnished Copper, not sure I would order one in it but I do like it, Lantana purple for me.

McLaren makes some really, really quick vehicles. However, they are not very comfortable and I wonder if this may have that issue. As the GT is based on the same Monocell II structure, modified for cargo, I doubt they engineered more space for people larger than five foot nine inches. The comparative room inside a 911 is commodious. But good luck McLaren! Move that metal and try making money.....

they drive incredibly well and are as fast as a stabbed rat but just don't see the attraction.
Hmm.
I don't see the attraction because there are quite a lot of other manufacturers that have cars that drive well, and go like a stabbed rat that have an awful lot more character, or look either better or more distinctive/individual from the rest of the cars in their range, and don't have the same 2 seater, carbon tub layout, similar interior, hard to tell apart exterior, and generic engine/remapped.

For example, the Ferrari Pista at least looks visually different, from a 488. I'd rather have the engine from a Huracan or a R8 V10. You can easily tell a Huracan apart from an Aventador.

Sure all 911's look very similar but the GT3 has a magic naturally aspirated engine, and the Turbo, well has a Turbo.

If you're not a car geek and lined up almost every available McLaren, I think 95% of people would struggle to see why you'd choose one over the other. They all look very similar, have 2 seats (ok 3 in some), and have the same engine albeit in different states of tune.

It's only my opinion but I can't get excited about whether it's a sports or super series etc.

I mean if I had only seen the title of the post, and not read the article or seen the pictures, I could already tell it was going to be a 2 seater, carbon tubbed, 4.0 v8 Turbo automatic 'supercar' with the same bland design language of almost every car they've produced so far.

Again, and maybe it's just me, meh ...

Would rather have the Ferrari ff or gtc4

Tbh would prefer that Porsche Panamera turbo estate that was on top gear

If you could point out which Mac isn't the 2 seat mid engined V8 turbo with carbon tub, I'd appreciate it!
Thatta one.

I'd forgotten about that! Partly because there will be only 106 of them at £2.1M each.
laugh You researched that to see if I was correct
I knew it had 3 seats but I didn't know the other numbers! And I also knew I couldn't buy one, therefore not on my radar...

+1 there is absolutely no creativity regarding design in Woking whatsoever...... big hole in the side that splits the car in two, blackout rear end, front end way to high with again two massive holes on either side and on and on and on...

It oooks like really nice car and I’m sure it is brilliant.

But it does seem to be answering the question know one has asked. People don’t seem to have a problem going touring in there McLarens I dont have one but I have been all over the place in my Ferrari with no problems. As for putting skis in it what’s the point it won’t fit the rest of the stuff you need and when you do get there what if it has snowed? Won’t be getting very far if it gets slippery. Let’s be honest if you have got 200k for one of these you have probably got a nice daily to do that sort of thing.

Other than being able to take it to the golf course I just don’t see the point over any of there other cars.

I don't mean to be the Debbie Downer here, but I don't quite understand the methodology behind McLarens thinking. They have done more damage to their brand by developing and releasing new models every six months than any other brand on the market.

The MP4 12C is a fine example of this damage. You can pick up a used low mile MP4 12C for $90,000 US and they decrease in value by the day. If I am looking at buying a McLaren I have to ask myself where do I step in line to take my loss. No other exotic car brand is depreciating older models faster.

I guess I'm old fashioned I miss the days of Gordon Murray and the F1 mentality.

this is a British site mate please convert to £ as I do (I live in Canada) :P

In all seriousness, I don't see the point of this, but then I suppose niches are the name of the automotive game these days so more power to McLaren.

And to those who say they feel no attraction to McLaren, I'd say the same is likely true of the Ferrari Portofino and 488GTB and Pista (at least that is true for me), so this is just the direction things are going in. If McLaren manages to keep its V8s in its lower end cars in the next decade, and Ferrari switches to V6s, I guarantee you that McLaren will suddenly appear very soulful and desirable

I would say most current V6’s sound better than Mclarens flat crack V8 and both Ferrari and McLaren are moving to V6 hybrid engines in very near future for entry/mid range. I honestly can’t see anybody getting misty eyed over the Mclaren V8 a few years down the line.

This. Plus I don't see how this is a GT.

Can you buy a dog guard for the rear luggage area, or perhaps some sort of netting that will ensure the luggage doesn't enter the cabin?

I’m not sure the starting price quoted in Nic’s article is right. I was at a preview earlier this week and I’m sure they said pricing starts from £195k or €225k. Can anyone else verify...?

In the flesh, for me, it’s a good looking car. Less fussy than other McLaren’s - but certainly not the clean lines of a Bentley or Aston. But it’s performance stats are mad for a GT... 3.2s to 62mph!

Isn't the interior exactly the same as the 540/570?

That massive side intake doesn't fit a GT imo

Nose looks too high

Front and back are nice enough

Side lacks any imagination/innovation
