Been loitering on the forums for years now, always meant to do a build thread of my wagon but have never got round to it.

Won’t be to everyone’s taste, I’m sure, but here’s my 2018 Golf R (7.5) estate. Bought to replace an S3 Sportback for financial and space reasons when we became parents-to-be, it’s fast become an all-consuming project for me. I think I’m pretty much finished now. THINK…

It’s currently at about 500hp and 600Nm, with appropriate suspension and brake upgrades. And still our daily family bus!
Love this. I had a 7.0 Golf R wagon but never got around to modifying it. Your car is seriously tempting me back.

OK posting even though I no longer have it!
I still have no idea why anybody posts the picture of any car other than this one.

What a fun thread that would be.

Answer: Don't. I had a 2.0 XT for 13 years from new and have regretted selling it most days since. And that wasn't even an STi. The way they move around at speed on gravel roads makes them one of the most under-rated cars.

It's sort of so good it's annoying. I used to change cars every 18 months and had this year's and years now. Gone to Alps, NC500 and all sorts of places with it and everything I look at seems to have either a speed, load space or ground clearance compromise. Plus the Subaru burble and rarity it's just an annoyingly perfect motor for what I do.

Because it's called "pics of *your* fast estate", and presumably only one person owns that one?

Not mine, but I'd have liked one back in the day, if they'd have made them...

Your post prompted me to do an AT search - this one is a minter hence the price but what a lot of car for the money.

It might be fun but without a V8, it's too highly strung at speed on long journeys in comparison.

OK so it's not as fast as some of the stuff on here but it's fast enough to raise some eyebrows without any drama.

You really should do a RR thread, 500bhp must be fun in that.

That's a crazy price, I paid about £9,500 for mine and was 40,000 at the time. I can't see them as becoming mainstream classics but they do really hit the spot. If you have two dogs, like mountaineering and like to travel Europe by road it's the car for you... Admittedly small market laugh

Can everyone with Alpinas please stop posting them? I have only just bought my E63 and I have huge Alpina envy cry
I too have Alpina envy, but thankfully there is a treatment.

First I had an initial dose (I test drove way back in October 2020), but that just made the symptoms worse.

I then opted for surgery (of the wallet - and placed an order). However, since then it has become chronic envy and is exacerbated by current owners posting here.

I referred myself back to Sytners, who gave me a second stronger dose (I was loaned a car over night (the very car featured in the PH Review) and in the same colour I ordered).

But alas, the only long term treatment is a car transplant.

Just the one dog and too fat to mountaineer, but I do like a road trip. Looks like yours will be appreciating.

Great cars. If space is what you need, I think there's nothing better. Which version is it?
