Happy to be called out as 'Mutton' on this, but every week I take my son for golf lessons at a local golf/tennis club on a Sunday morning and spend the hour in the clubhouse bar with a coffee/newspaper. And, every week, a whole parade of awful people insist on coming in (and going out) and leaving the door open behind them letting the cold air in behind them, then I, or some other unlucky person, has to get up and close the door.

For some reason this simple act of rudeness (or thoughtlessness) by these people really boil my pi** - I mean WTF can't these idiots have the decency and courtesy to think of others and just close the door behind them??

It isn't just to be clear a thing about 'doors' - it's all the cold air and discomfort this act causes, and I'm finding myself increasingly frustrated by this.

Am in on the extreme here, or do other PHers empathise/agree with me on this?

(I should add I don't just sit next to the door, this cold air blows around the entire bar)

It's amazing how many people expect every door to automatically open and close for them. Even if it has a closer, I make sure it shuts/latches.

You were doing so well, then you used *that* phrase, "boils my piss..."

Well I could say something like "It's jolly unsporting of these chaps to leave the door open and not very chipper in my opinion" but the phrase 'it boils my pi**" is actually far more reflective about my mood about this. Apologies if that phrase offends... frown

No he didn't, he said "boil my pi**"

You are reading too much into the passage and misquoting the OP.

Yes OP, people who leave doors wide open when it's cold outside really annoy me as well.
My wife, for instance. They should be consigned to Room 101. irked

But a Golf Club outside door, I would expect to be fitted with an automatic closer.
Alternatively, at the very least, a sign saying "Dear Member, Please have the courtesy to close this door behind you."

I suggest you raise the matter with one of the committee.

A turn of phrase I'm not familiar with in this context.

I know of 'mutton dressed as lamb' or 'mutton and Jeff = deaf' but never heard someone being called mutton for having a grumble about stuff?

Same here but I’ve given up tbh. Gammon, mutton, what next? Gizzards? Lord knows what they mean.
I’m with the OP though, I detest inconsiderate behaviour too but sadly it’s the norm these days. My kids got / get told if they display these tendencies but I don’t think other parents care.

Sadly it is this. Society seems to have turned into a bunch of people who care only for themselves.

People are inconsiderate of others. That is society I am afraid.

On the other hand to get so that it boils ones urine is not healthy. That can cause no end of medical problems. Moving to a different table away from the door, frequenting a better golf club or the art of just letting these things slide by would likely be more constructive for you.

Very true.

Was in the barbers yesterday and a guy who’s hair was being cut kept answering the phone to his mates - something about a Facebook account hack - literally not a care in the world for the barber himself. So rude!!

Every couple of weeks on a Saturday evening we like fish and chips for dinner. The chippy we use regularly has ignorant folk leaving the door open for all remaining punters to freeze.

Last night I was in waiting for our fish to cook say next to the door, a young couple (17-18ish) had just been served and walked out, opening the door and then leaving it wide open. They came back “disgusted” that no one had closed the door after them, they didn’t have their hands full, on small carrier bag between them both. Apparently all other patrons were “egg-no-rent kernts” exclaimed as they finally left again.

I dislike the generally unwashed population.

i agree with you OP.

I think a very similar thing whenever i go into shops (particularly my local corner shop) during the summer/hot weather. when its hot they put the aircon on in their shop. i enter and close the door behind me, i close it behind me as i leave too. But many people will open it up all the way so it stays open, letting all that cold air they're spending money on out.
