I'm struggling with the concept of the Ateca being smaller, when they're built on the same platform??
In what way are you struggling?

"Same plaform" doesn't mean exactly the same chassis / floorpan and stick a body on it. It's just extremely similar!

Tiguan and Q3 are about 10cm longer than Ateca / Karoq - most of that being in a bigger boot.

Aye, almost 30 models share the MQB Platform, golf, polo, TT, Q2, Q3. VW define a shared Platform as sharing certain main components.

The Atecha isn't really smaller

That front end is both inelegant and bland. When I see this model approaching - they're always in white - I just think what a shame you let the outside world see you in that.
I can see your point if the image you project through your car is important. Personally I don't care what other road user thinks.

I doubt very much they are all white.

Not sure why this is regarded the 'hot' model unless it's only petrol engines?

240ps model has slightly more bhp but twin turbo 500nm and is reputedly 6.1 seconds 0-62 which makes it quicker than this one.
