Oulton Park Saturday Service 21/09 | Update

Fancy a full track day near Little Budworth? Us too!

We've been busy little bees behind the scenes trying to make this event as good as it can be, so have added a couple of little "extras" for PHers to take advantage of and enjoy. The first is the inclusion of two taster sessions; one is at midday and the other is at 1530, both of which last 30 minutes and cost £40 each.

You're more than welcome to book onto both - hell, at 40 quid surely it would be rude not to! These taster sessions are perfect to get a little feel of what track days are all about if you're new to the asphalt, or a great way to exercise your car without the commitment of a full day.

Sound good? For more information and booking, see here. And for further details on the day's running, see the earlier story below.

We promised more Sunday (Saturday?) Services, so be careful what you wish for as they're coming in thick and fast now! And if we do say so ourselves, they're shaping up to be mighty fine indeed. So without further ado, we're delighted to announce another brand new event in the PistonHeads calendar - Oulton Park is calling all PHers for a full track day on September 21st!

MSVT will be hosting another one of their fantastic track days for us at the legendary circuit, which is one of the most picturesque in the UK. The track features elevation changes like you wouldn't believe, making it incredibly exciting to drive on - and to watch at. An event to be missed, this is not! You may have noticed that the 21st is a Saturday, that's not a typo, we simply think a track event such as this is more suited to a Saturday; you'll need Sunday to get the track tyres off in time for the commute on Monday, right?

This event will be a full track day, with three groups; novice, intermediate and advanced (based on your experience on track). Each group will then be split into six 20 minute sessions throughout the day, and it will cost you £239. Noise limits are 92dB drive by and 105dB static.

Sounds good? Find full booking details here, plus additional extras like one-to-one tuition, helmet hire and garage hire. You do not have to sign up to our calendar if you are going on track.

As usual, this isn't just a track day, we'll be hosting the regular Sunday/Saturday Service meet alongside the action, so if you don't fancy going on out yourself you can always come along and spectate instead. We have 400 spaces for PHers and you can sign up here to secure your spot. This will be an all day event from 0830-1700h for those parking up and not going on track. We look forward to seeing you there!

Date: September 21st, 2019 Cost: £239 for the track day, free for the Saturday Service meet only.

Time: 0830-1700h Space: 400 (excluding track cars)

Address: Oulton Park Circuit
Cheshire
Little Budworth
Tarporley

I assume all stock cars will fit within these noise levels?

Highly likely unless you're driving a Caterham 620R with a side exit exhaust! 105dB is pretty generous so if your exhaust is stock, I'm sure you'll be fine. You can always check with MSVT if you're concerned.

It would have to be something particularly offensive to pass 105 static!! My CBR600RR track bike has a full exhaust system and makes 101...

Doesn't a 911 GT3RS fail at Silverstone?

Not having done a Pistonheads track day, anyone here testify to the standards of driving?

If my mate wants to come along as a viewer, not participate, how can that be done? I can't add him to the list as he's not on the net at all, never mind on PH.

This is a great track to drive and view at. Think whoever wrote the article and states "elevation changes you won't believe" must live in Holland as they all seem fine to me smile

I am signing up for viewing, it's a really good choice of venue for a SS.

Obviously I might be seen to be biased, but overall I'd say very good compared to some other track days I've been on. Our full track days we've run at Goodwood have had a very high standard of driving.

Novice sessions do have slower drivers who won't necessarily have the confidence through corners, so just book your group based on experience. There are novice, intermediate and advance groups so something for everyone!

Well if it’s anything like the ‘taster’ session I went on at Silverstone ........
Turned up to go out and I was surrounded by race prepped BMW’s and Megan’s.
Needless to say my pace wasn’t their pace and ended up in front of the race Director - fekin waste of time in my book.
Just go to the Nordshleife - much better done and not riddled with bellends with track red mist

Still wondering whether I can bring a mate who isn't on-line at all, just to the "parking" bit of this.

It was decided that you were driving like a plum though. Slow in the corners but not letting people past on the straights. Can't really blame others.

The usual Saturday/Sunday service rules is its your car that is registered with you driving it and you bring your mate shotgun. Parking places rather than people is usually the problem.

If spaces are available, can you just sign up to the 30min track day session on the day?

Yes if spaces are available on the day, you will be able to book although I'll be surprised if the taster sessions don't sell out beforehand at £40!

If you're aiming to book on the day, you'll need to ensure you're signed up here so that you're sent a pass to get into the circuit, otherwise you might be refused entry.
