I don't see the appeal of the 6R4. Not for me.
That Ferrari though is lovely particularly in that gunmetal colour.
it does look shabby but they where mental fast in their final form and for me the 6R4 / RS200 battles where probably the best racing i have ever seenThat Ferrari though is lovely particularly in that gunmetal colour.
Old Billy Boy Gollop <3 and circa 650bhp/tonne

I think the bodywork was made by Reliant in their Tamworth factory as Rover would not want fibreglass floating around their facilities!
That was the Ford RS200The 6R4 was a Longbridge build:

The Metro is an odd one because it looks rubbish without livery, yet you can't now use it. I would have thought that rally cars might be worth more with use, a bit of history behind them!
I would agree, without the livery that people associate with the rally cars, the car don't look anything special, other than as 90's Max Power failed back street project car on a 1.0l metro shopping trolley!Dave Hedgehog said:

I’m sure I read somewhere they were making upwards of 900bhp and I would imagine they weighed less than a ton. Old Billy Boy Gollop <3 and circa 650bhp/tonne

I agree, that does look good, however, many people myself included do associate these type of cars with certain livery (However, my choice would be RS200evo [or even Audi Quattro sport] but ultimate would be Lancia Stratos)Criticizing an MG Metro 6R4 for the way it looks? Really?
Come on, we've all at some point shagged an ugly bird and thought "Christ, I can't believe I just did that!" Then, on reflection: "Actually, yes I can - she was one of the best shags of my life".
Well, that's the 6R4 in a nutshell. In the 1990's I had a Fiat Strada Abarth 130TC and that was a pig-ugly brute to look at too. Fortunately, I couldn't see it while I was driving it. In any case, who cares? When I was out chasing those early 1990's RAC Rallies around the country I wasn't sitting there taking the Lampredi twin cam to maximum revs wherever I could whilst simultaneously thinking "Thank God it's dark out here and nobody can see me ragging (shagging) this ugly Italian bird".
Also, that particular 6R4 is a 'blank canvas' so you already have a head start - just select your preferred livery. Computervision? Absolutely. Rothmans? Good choice. And there are many others. Didier Auriol campaigned a 6R4 in France, Marc Duez in Belgium, Harri Toivonen (the late Henri Toivonen's younger brother) in Finland and Swede Per Eklund campaigned one just about everywhere.
So, just grab a paint brush and get cracking! And then shag an ugly bird - in this case I bet you won't regret it!
