biggrin When BMW made the M4 GTS, they bumped the price to a similar level but you only got 68bhp more, not 300, or twice as much. I agree it'd be sensible to have a middle ground but is anyone buying them? I've not seen many C43 AMGs about for example. Cars like the XE or 3 series or A4 seem polarised into fleet tools where running costs / BIK etc. are king, or ever more powerful beasts for those with money to spare and no concern for running costs. The appetite for a little more performance for a little more cost seems to have gone, it's all or nothing.
Makes no sense to build the 'middle' car when not enough people are buying the standard cars.

I like the Project 8, but overall I worry for Jaguar's future. The XE was meant to be the savior and I don't think it has turned out like that.

Very nice, but can they not produce something with say 400bhp, which would be a halo car and shift the fusty image Jaguar has in certain quarters?

I appreciate it might not, as an individual spec model, make any money, but people buy by association. Without the Quadrifolio, how many Guilias would Alfa sell?

Even with the Quadrifoglio, Alfa do not sell anywhere near as many Giulias as they do Stelvios, and it is probably a similar thing for Jag - I bet an F Pace SVR would be a much easier sell in this strange world

So with Ford Bridgend plant shutting in 2020 where will JLR get their V8's built unless they make in-house or get form BMW (is the rumour especially given the EV engine joint venture)?

I saw the 'regular' Jaguar XE SV Project 8 on the road around the Weybridge area a few months back and I think it looked fantastic. I tried but couldn't get close enough to hear it, although I was in a Toyota Hilux!

I think they look great, the only 2 things stopping me getting one are the fact its LHD only and I am about £100K shy of the asking price!

I saw a project 7 and 8 yesterday at Supercars in London. Unbelievably cool car. List price on the 8 was £165k. Too much choice at that price point (new and used) but the folks buying this car will have exotica already, they buy this because they can. That alone should be celebrated.

The full fat one is £150k so this will be what, £120k? Not worth it when a M5 Comp is less than £100k and driven on the correct side of the road
Especially when you can buy a new well spec’d M5 Comp for less than £80k.

So much more special than M5 or e63 I really don’t think you can compare.

My issue with the XE (and I wanted to like it when provided one as a loaner) was that the infotainment system was about 10 years too old and fiddly to use (felt cheap too) and that the cabin space was laughably tight.

Doesn’t matter.

People don’t care these days even on ph. They want infotainment.

I had one on order but back out when they finalised the price, too much money but may make a good second hand buy 🙂

Do you reckon? Project 7’s are still £20K over list years later. I would imagine the P8 will be much the same

I was fortunate enough to drive a P8 round silverstone. Granted, it was only for a couple of laps, but I was not impressed with the car at all. Steering was dead, extremely unsettled coming out of corners, and the gearbox was disappointing at this price point. It really should have been a dual clutch. No doubt its super fast in the right hands, but not great for me on track. For a road car though I can definitely see it working, at it would be totally overpowered and hilarious fun being able to light up the rears at will at any speeds. So in touring spec, it makes more sense!

At 1,750kg it’s not a track car
epic on fast roads, which is what the Nurburgring is.

Yours not going to light the rears with All Wheel Drive.

What is the prediction with future values with these? Will they fall or appreciate given very limited numbers?

I run Moorgate Motorsport Finance. We have purchased the first Series Elite Project 8 race car. We have it available to hire for the Series Elite race series that is gradually gaining support as well as using it for our promo purposes. Series Elite is a race series aimed at HNW individuals over 40 years old.

I have driven it round Donington and It's a monster, such a good car to drive with over 600bhp and with tweaked suspension.

Road versions are sold out and have already changed hands for a premium. I don't think we will lose money on ours.

Our is the orange car BTW

Gutted. I was going to call Jaguar today as this car has absolutely excited me like no other in ages but I got busy and had no time. I would have loved one. Absolutely wonderful.

Is this news?

I thought it was offered with the back seats/without the big rear wing/etc from launch?
The only options at the time were to either have the rear bench seats or roll cage and harnesses, the wing was compulsory as it stood. There is thread on here where I asked someone who had placed an order if he knew if there was any chance of Jaguar supplying the car without the wing and he replied by saying something along the lines of that he had asked the question himself, as he would have personally preferred not to have had it, but they had said no. I wonder if he was able to amend his specification at a later date?

Those of you talking about price

Is it really that bad?

An Audi RS4 with some bits stuck on and a power upgrade. A year old with 10k on it.

The jag looks a bargain.
