Not sure I could live with just one car....

My current 'fleet' includes:

2019 Mustang GT (daily)
1974 Interceptor
1974 Stag
1973 Beetle (modded)
1958 Beetle (stock)
1998 Mini
2004 MINI Cooper S (winter Mini)
1966 Mustang (not here yet, on the boat)

I've properly now hit the limit in terms of storage... In fact I really need to part company with a couple and make some room.

Currently struggling with this "problem". Five cars inc. the OH. Monthly tax, offset by strategic sorning. Still not got on top of the insurance as three of the five are modified and that means I can't pile them all into a group policy.

May main issue is space. Or more to the point, that we have to shuffle cars about endlessly to get the one we want to the road.

Which is why I'm digging up the front lawn this weekend...

I've been trying to deal with my addiction lately. At one point i was up to 8 motorbikes and 4 cars.

2000 R1
2000 929 Blade
1999 ZX9
2010 K1300S
2000 Blackbird
1999 TT600
1993 NTV650
1998 VFR800

2006 130i (fun family car)
2010 325d touring (commuter)
2002 Boxster S (Roof down fun)
1998 306 GTI-6

Recently i've sold loads.

The K1300S was the most expensive of the bikes and the fastest depreciating, plus it was getting me riding too fast
NTV650 was fun but that went
VFR800 bettered by the blackbird
TT600 f'ugly but fun but no real passion for it
ZX9 i loved the greenness, but bettered by the blade and R1

So i'm left with the Blackbird (full time commuter), 929 and R1, though the R1 could go as i think the 929 is great and i've not used either this year.

Car wise the 325d had issues, so i got rid of that and the 130i and bought a newer Civic diesel as my "modern" car. So that does the daily/family car duties now and is brilliant.

The boxster has stayed because i love it

The GTI6 was gathering dust so i ebayed it off. Sick of waiting for the market to rocket so after 4 years it's gone....

...replaced immediately with an MX5 track car smile

Life's too short to keep things the same for too long. I'm always looking at overlaps and gaps to see if they can be filled. I have loads of outdoor space so could go nuts, but i couldn't bare to have them sitting outside rotting. As it stands i have room inside for 3 cars and about 1/2 doz bikes, plus hard standing for another 4-5 cars if i really wanted, but shuffling things around becomes tedious.

Also, having to have a spreadsheet for MOT, tax, etc is tedious!!

5 cars and a motorbike here. Of course each car has a purpose including the shed Saab which I use for the 2 mile daily journey to the train as I work in London. Makes sense to me.

This year was a big one for repairs and servicing with 2 needing cam belts/major services in the past month. Even the bike demanded new tyres, as did the Monaro so I’ve spend the best part of £4k on them since March.

Now my boy is starting to drive so I too will be block paving part of the front lawn for extra parking space.

[quote=MellowshipSlinky]My mate has bloody loads - a small sample here.
He keeps them in a lock up where he also has his office.
Also has a barn nearly full elsewhere too...

Definitely a passion for him.

Major want for the Saab 9000 Carlsson.

If nobody did this there would be no barn finds! Keep it up (3 cars here, I got down to 2 for a while).

3 for me and fixing a 4th. I'm becoming a project hoarder I think!

Mazda 6 for doing.. everything I ask of it.
Vauxhall Calibra V6. that's specifically for emptying my bank account to ensure I don't buy more projects.
Mazda MX-5 for tinkering and teaching me how to do body work & welding.
R50 Mini, bought for other half to encourage learning to drive. It worked a treat until she went automatic only. Tidying up a few jobs on it then sell cheap.

Also looks to be a blue Subaru L series saloon in the middle front. Pretty rare now. My folks had a few Subaru's when I was a kid, including a red L series turbo estate with air suspension and a couple of Brat pickup's.

I think I'd agree with the others who commented it's only an issue if you end up with cars all over a garden in various states of repair, going rusty etc. I currently have three cars, 340i daily, E46 325i track car and a 320d for the mrs daily, I've also got a 350cc scooter. I think the limit for me currently is garage space, I've been eying up another 'toy' but I'd like to be able to put the cars that don't get used so much in a garage. That and I need to make some cut backs in the short term, scooter is going and I might tuck the E46 away for winter. In a few years I'd like to have the space for a few nice cars that I can wrap in cotton wool and use when I feel like it.

I'm jealous of some of the collections on here though, loving the 'sports day and weddings' car laugh

I manage this situation through a ‘dark ops’ campaign between me and a few chums. I commute on the train so obviously only have need for 1 car but..

Current official fleet:

FFRR - family wagon
Cooper S - runaround
911 3.2 Carrera - weekend smoker

Current unofficial fleet:

Ferrari 328 GTS (half share and kept with a chum)
Ferrari 308 GTB (half share and kept with a different chum)
Austin Seven (SORN’d and garaged miles away)
2 x Vincent motorcycles (one up and running, other in bits and both kept with a specialist miles away!)

I can probably gain official approval for 4 so obviously on the lookout for something new to replace an XK120 that recently passed through without touching the sides/alerting the authorities!.

...and I’m not the worst of my mates!

The successor to my latest acquisition. It’s a lot of fun. I need to get a few bits done starting with decent tyres as the ditch finders it came on are barely good enough in the dry never mind the wet.

Just looked through your car history. How was the delta as an ownership proposition?

Been after a forester sti for years. They seem overpriced generally but I guess it’s the rarity value. What’s its role in the fleet? Is it sporty?

I wonder if we could set up some kind of addiction therapy group where we meet up and swap cars between us all for a month or so at a time. Would be cheaper than buying and get to satisfy the cravings for trying all types of cars.

Or is that just crazy talk.

Did loads of research then went for it - don't think you will get a decent one for much less than £9k. Overpriced next to a UK car but similar to an Impreza STI so seems sensible to me.

This is my practical, sensible family car. 5 doors, air con, cupholders, reasonable safety etc. All things the 3 Series lacks being a coupe. I love that E36 though so can't sell it to be honest. Low miles, immaculate and decently modded to make it a truly joyous road car.

The Elise has been modded to death too. It's a bit nuts smile
