The loss of the Ford approval (and this warranty) for this kills it for me. Is there any proof that Ford Performance are indeed launching their own power upgrade package?
Well they already sell ford performance wheels and coilovers for the mk8 fiesta. They now sell exhausts, remaps etc for the mustang so would be a logical step

I'm really keen on these, very fast but those wheels are revolting.
Funny thing taste, I like the wheels but think a fiesta is revolting

Yes but none of those things particularly increase wear on key engine components which could lead to higher warranty claims, which a power upgrade most definitely would.

All cars scream finance. This, however, screams a tenner for a teenf.
Haha nah all cars scream finance to people like you. I have a '17 Fiesta ST which i own.
My mate who has an RS4 told me the other week that he has had weeks where he was not sure how he was going to buy food.
Ironic isn't it that car snobs like you are usually much poorer than most 'chavs' in reality and certainly much less fun at parties.
People spend a lot of money trying to not look "poor".

hopefully this doesnt make the horrendous 'crackle' noises that are so popular these days on maps. Literally the most horrendous, sh*tty, vile and cringe inducing noise ever to come out of a car.

On a group B rally car because of anti-lag - yes. On a ford fiesta when you're driving down the A12 on the way to Mcdonalds - no, you pr*ck.

From the people I've spoken to within the blue oval, I was told that there wasn't going to be a Ford-sanctioned engine upgrade for the Fiesta ST, as it wouldn't meet their durability requirements. Maybe that will change, but that's the situation as I understand it. That being said, I suspect any future engine tweaks to any model will be under the Ford Performance banner, rather than the mountune one. I think that partnership has run its course. The fact they are now expanding into other vehicles suggests that mountune feel they need to look beyond Ford for their road car tuning business.

We're all different. My old Megane R.S. used to make the odd pop and bang and I thought it added to the experience. The 'pop' that my Golf R did on EVERY up-shift was a bit silly by comparison, because it was so obviously engineered into the car.

Personally, I think we should be grateful that manufacturers are putting a bit of effort into how their cars sound. I'm no fan of fake engine sound through the stereo, or wherever else but, if you drive a standard hot hatch from the 90s, they do sound pretty crap in reality. A fiesta that makes a few pops and bangs is hardly the worst thing in the world.

To me the Ford approach is actually a bit more reserved in comparison. You seem to see allsorts driving STs and the new one looks far too reserved if anything. The only thing I didn't like about the Mk7.5 was the seats were a bit garish with the stitched 'ST' logo vomit ...but then again other's wouldn't blink an eyelid.
Agree, it's a bit bland looking compared to the last one, which is a shame IMO. But then I like a bit of garishness hehe

Agree the old one was much better looking, but I would still have the new one just for the engine - mainly the noise it makes which you will never be able to replicate on the older car. I'm sure it's probably a bit better on juice too, and maybe has a lighter nose? (I don't know just speculating).

So the fiesta is now faster than the Cosworth!...it would be interesting to see a comparison of acceleration and track work of the ST v Cosworth.
REVO ST with 248PS, 380NM+ - 0-60mph 5.8s 0-100mph 13.0. Not sure how that compares. 60-100 times not far off E46 M3.
eek That's faster than my Scirocco R was.

That's what 1187kg gets you. Have to say I'm impressed by the torque output of this engine, and it makes it from 2400rpm.

Having owned the ST180 and the 215, the subjective difference is negligible and driven blind, I doubt I could honestly tell unless it was on a drag strip.
thats because the mp215 is warranty friendly and still has the torque restrictions on first and second gear, once i switched to collins performance and made around 225bhp it was a completely different animal.

Also stock it makes 197bhp on overboost so its not 35bhp increase but 18bhp increase over stock.
