I absolutely love this car! I do actually prefer the pre-facelift interior with actual 'v8 configuration' buttons though.

Woo, topless safety car!

Hang on, HOW MUCH..?? redface That's well into 570S money, and the McLaren won't depreciate as much either.
Erm, are you sure about that?

This is one of, if not the only cars out there where I much prefer the standard model to the cooking ones. Every time they add an appendage or a vent it makes this car worse in my eyes.
Agreed. Same with the V8 F-Type convertible.

A GTC is more or less perfect. This is borderline tacky especially with the passé matte paint.

On looks alone, I wouldn't walk past this to get to the 570s. Not a huge fan of the wing but I could live with it.

Edit: I wouldn't have it in the matte black, as shown here - or any black, for that matter.

The green though? Oh yes

I think the matte paint looks fantastic, in fact the whole thing looks great.

It's strange that these and a lot of its competitors bomb yet the latest R8 seems pretty good? Gen 2 R8 Spiders were £129k new in 2016 and three years later the cheapest cars on AutoTrader are still £95k. Seems decent that when there are 3 year old (6k mile) 650S Spiders with a list price north of £250k listed on there for £119k eek

A base/standard model is the cooking version isn’t it?

Interesting. How come the previous SLS cars seem to all be lodged at ~£125k and these are depreciating?

The SLS was built in far smaller numbers than the AMG GT family and did depreciate from new but is now seen as desirable/collectable with its old school n/a 6.2 L V8 etc. hence prices firming up.

Same sort of thing has happened with other exotica e.g. Ferrari 550 / 575.

The SLS were under £100k at one point, but they’re on the up again. Probably a realisation that we’re not going to see an engine like that ever again.

Whatever you do, don’t look at prices of SLRs redface They were close to £100k once too, now not under £200k

The bottom price seems to be when a new model gets announced and people trade in the old ones. Ferrari F12s and even 458s are heading back up now too.

A bit tragic that a lot of the interior looks the same as my C Class though........

And the doors. Didn’t Merc say they wouldn’t be doing those doors again? Even if you don’t believe it, it adds some exotica.

The F40 is exceptional in this argument, imo, and doesn't work as a counter to the point that GranCab is making.

They also add height to the centre of gravity and make visibility especially bad too. Exotic? Maybe. A bad idea for handling (in the case of the SLS)? Definitely.

Visibility bad? No.

And the handling traits of the car have nothing to do with the COG, which is supposed to be pretty low.

The F40 and the 288 GTO for that matter are both exceptional in this context.

I could have thrown a few more n/a exotica into the mix, older Lamborghinis for starters and the McLaren F1 for the main course.
