To be fair I think the admiration for the car came mostly from how it made the driver feel rather than from its outright pace so deserves the credit it received.
Fab car but I’m amazed how few reviews, videos or articles comment on what these cars are like on the road in the real world. Just back from a 6 day 1,400 mile fast road trip round the Highlands and some of the finest driving roads in Europe IMHO. We had a 570s Spyder along this year, an amazing thing but it literally scraped its way round Scotland. These things are just so restrictive in terms of where you can actually use them.Edited by gigglebug on Saturday 22 June 13:58

That road is a beautiful, peaceful part of the world, and the people who live on it are f*****g sick of pin-dicks using it as a racetrack.
And yes, I *am* trying to spoil their fun, because spoiling other people’s fun is exactly what some owners of these cars are doing to the pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders in that area, who now feel the road is too unsafe to enjoy. Well done PH for promoting it as a destination.
Take it to the track.
Take the horses off the road into the fields where they belong to exercise, eat grass and have a massive dump. And yes, I *am* trying to spoil their fun, because spoiling other people’s fun is exactly what some owners of these cars are doing to the pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders in that area, who now feel the road is too unsafe to enjoy. I won't even mention Dobbins numerous piles of horse st cluttering up the roads causing major hazards for proper heavily taxed and insured road users. fking disgrace.
Is it still 1885?
Thought not.

Thank you for sharing. It is interesting what it is to live with in real life. Like you say, is the clearance an issue? does it have space for luggage (carefully packed efficiently of course).Edited by Simon Owen on Saturday 22 June 15:07
I know this is not What Car? but in my fantasy world, what would it be like to own?

Ha to clarify we were not driving the 570s, it was just part of the group. I've never owned one but having spent several days with it in the group I could just see it frustrating me to bits on UK blacktop.I know this is not What Car? but in my fantasy world, what would it be like to own?
I'm not in any way saying it's a bad car, it's ace, it's just that it's attributes limit its use on the road .... and massively so in the UK. Funny thing is this is supposed to be the most useable 'supercar' so God knows what all the others are like ?!?!
The clearance issue is the front splitter, it's not silly low but it projects so far from the front axle that it just scraped all the bloody time. Probably not doing any damage but not a nice sound !!!!

Back on the horsey theme.. It is madness letting horses use these roads today. I was doing under the (national) speed limit on a very, very windy, undulating costal road this afternoon and saw horse pooh round a blind corner, and just thought - this would have been disastrous for car, beast and rider had timings been different.
Stunning car, no doubt.
For the right weight saving options, drop the air con (save 12.6kg), drop the stereo (save 3,3).
Roof down could sort the aircon for sure (unless you live in Florida during rainy season) and the stereo I could live without, but....
Bar Lewis Hamilton et al types, could you tell the difference in handling?
Do customers actually do this?

And what if it had been a hypothetical vehicle stationary in the road as oppose to a hypothetical horse having a poo that you may have encountered around this blind corner, would you have just crashed into that too? This merely sounds like a case of you not being in the position to be able to stop in time if you had encountered a hazard in the road whilst navigating a blind corner, which suggests nothing more than you not driving to the road conditions, as oppose to a hypothetical horse and rider getting lucky. Another pointless sports car for people with more money than sense to clog up the roads of Surrey on a Sunday afternoon. Where I live (Surrey) you just can’t drive a car like that ANYWHERE as it is intended to be driven.....if you want to do a track day...just buy one of these....

Anyone who does that and claims the 16kg weight saving of having no AC or radio is noticeable is talking through their derriere...not having AC in the summer would be unbearable.
How do people with older cars survive? I do see them literally dying by the roadside as soon as it hits 18 degrees. Crazy fools.SidewaysSi said:

This is by no means any form of judgment of your post or the car in the advert but is 28 odd thousand miles normal for this type of car? I've genuinely no idea but it kinda sounds like a lot to me. https://racecarsdirect.com/Advert/Details/101320/f...

My one experience ponytrekking (accompanying a 12 year old sister many years ago) ended in the group of 8 or 9 horses all bolting after a train passed over the bridge which we were going over. Kids thrown off, ponies careering at full pelt down a windy lane for several hundred yards. Luckily nobody was seriously injured, but it could easily have been very serious.

On my old track car I got rid of the aircon and obviously got the shorter belt they say the engine will wind up quicker but I couldn’t tell a difference whatsoever apart from I got sweaty Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
