And I thought Audi were going down hill with their car design.

Why do BMW produce such damn Ugly cars? This and the new 1 Series. How did they every get signed off. And who looked at them and thought "Mmm, great looking cars"

What a pretty and environmentally responsible vehicle, I look forward to seeing this doing what it's designed for, whatever that is, smooth off roading between house and school?

Will that do?
Please can you give the environmental harping a short break? Even just for 1 day?

People in cars like this one can't really see a child because it is below the window line of their car. Great design, make them tall, with small windows. Who needs visibility eh?
That bonnet is at a perfect head height to properly take out a six year old. Still, as long as the kids in the back are OK that's fine. Obviously.

Only seen a couple of these new shape X6s in the wild - saw a black one yesterday stuck to the rear bumper of a Mondeo - in dense M25 traffic of course laugh

The rear light clusters do make it look very similar to the previous-generation Mercedes GLE Coupe from a distance...

Born at the top of the ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down and then got mugged. However, I’m sure it will go down well in Epping.

I would love to drive one of these, if only to watch Ian from Pistonheads frothing at the mouth from the seat of his 2003 Jag X-Type while I drop the kids off at school.

Probably says a lot about me, but I love the illuminated grilles whistle

For a manufacturer that has made and does make some superb cars, this is off the mark. It has a "look at me, I do EVERYTHING" trying to hard image which is vulgar, coupled with a rather sneering front end (that in 15 years time I'm sure the second-hand owners will be putting plastic 'frown's on the lights to accentuate further ).

Well that's a massive stinking pile of turd if ever I saw one. vomit I used to like BMW design (1990/2000's), simple, uncluttered, elegant.

Remember when Bangle came in "wrecked" BMW design? Now years later some of his designs are looked back on with some degree of fondness, this design make Bangles efforts look restrained. I wonder if in years to come we will look back with the same fondness on these current dog eggs?

I’m sure PH love BMW etc. releasing these sort SUVs so they can put up an article and inspire the pathetic vitriol.

It’s basically clickbait for them.

Amazing how many morons have bitten and continue to do so.

I don’t like this but I’m sure they will sell loads; I’m not going to have a childish meltdown about how they will ruin the planet and burn holes in my retinas. Quite comical the numbers who do.

I don't mind the styling apart from the new grilles. I don't mind the colour, although I probably wouldn't spec it, and I'm pretty impressed by the engine and drivetrain, I'm sure it would get from place to place extremely quickly and (based on previous experience) is likely to be more enjoyable to drive than similar cars from the likes of Mercedes and Audi.

I owned a previous generation X6 for a year, mine was the 40d variant. I liked it a lot and only offloaded due to job concerns.

The usual problems people have with the X6.
It's ugly - If you don't like it don't buy one. I liked the one I had so I bought it!
It's pointless - In what way is it more or less pointless than anything else? It carries people and luggage without any hassle. You could get more stuff in a Q7 and less stuff in a Micra.
It won't offroad - Neither will 90% of Range rovers but the X6 will be better on road compared to something that's more capable offroad. Mine was just fine in winter with the correct tyres and the extra height was useful is some of the places I took it.
The windows are too small - I like small widows. The X6 also tends to have a camera system to make parking easier. It really doesn't affect you day to day.

I didn't buy mine with any specific image in mind, I simply bought a car I liked at the time. It's how I generally choose cars, I'm not bothered if people do or don't like what I drive unless they actually damage it.
I live near Aberdeen so a lot of my driving is on fast country roads rather than sitting in traffic. The 4wd grip coupled with the higher driving position and power come in pretty useful when driving quickly as you can quite often see further ahead to plan corners and overtakes.

I bloody kid you not...

We're all doomed I tell you...

jesus christ on a bike.

I have no problem with the concept of an X6, suv/coupe (or whatever is called) - fine - whatever floats your boat. 530hp V8 - excellent... 4wd that doesn't go off road - whatever..

. but why, oh why, are BMW doing their utmost to make their customers look like utter knob ends ?

What a senseless comment. I used to walk to school as well but I sure as hell wouldn't expect my child to walk the same route these days. I also used to walk down the middle of street and play football in the road outside of my house as a child simply because there was hardly any traffic in them days but guess what, times have changed as there are many, many more people that are in the position to have a car these days so naturally there are more cars on the road, for all sorts of reasons, and not just at school drop off/pick up times. Families are spread over much larger areas, compared to when I was young, so many will have no option but to travel and it isn't always guaranteed that you can get a place on the provided transport even assuming that it is available/convenient to do so, my son missed out. Schools are now rated so many parents would rather their children do a bit of travelling to be at a better school, for a better education, than simply go to the closest. The nearest very large town to me has gone from two schools, one at each end of it, to a single Academy which is right on the outskirts making it virtually impossible for the children at the other side of town to walk to it. There are many reasons why people do actually need to drive their children to schools you know but what about;

People that drive to work when they could walk. Are they little snowflake darlings?

People that drive to the shops when they could walk. Are they little snowflake darlings?

People that drive when there is public transport available. Are they little snowflake darlings?

And on, and on.....

I wonder how many vehicles on the road at any given time of the day wouldn't actually fall into your 'little snowflake darling' category?? I wonder how many of the folks who trot out the "clogging up the roads at school time" line actually have any greater need to be in their car at that point than the people dropping their kids off/picking them up?

Which is exactly my point but it only ever seems to be people trying to get their kids to school that are charged with clogging up the roads, and more specifically it only ever appears to be brought up on every single SUV thread.

The public transport isn't vile where I live so I'm luckier than you in that regards.

Yet, they seem far less highly strung than the green eyed posters on this thread. Most brands attract a similar proportion of knob ends, but probably not as many as SUV threads on PH laugh

I really liked the first X6's looks (I'll hand my PH card in on the way out..) but each revision just seems to be more angular. Quite like the front of this but don't like the back at all. Interior doesn't appear to dissimilar to an F10 5 series either??

These cars are looking more and more like the Chinese rip offs from a few years back, have BMW bought in the same designers?

Something has gone wrong with BMW, they still make very good cars generally but is this kind of styling supposed please the Chinese and American markets or something?
