GTR make a great part time track car but they are utter ste road cars. No real enjoyment driving them on the road, to fast to use all the performance. The awd system is a bit rubbish but can be tweaked, suspension is naff for the road no matter what setting its in (mine is a 2011 and later cars are supposed to be better in this regard).

Age of the car... How can people complain about the age of the car and its price? The most expensive car ever sold is a 1963 Ferrari which sold for $70m. Makes this seem a bargain...

And as for the easy to drive quick thing... well... try a 7:08 at the ring, and when you've accomplished that, maybe I'll listen to you.

GTR’s make st track cars, everything overheats at the end of lap 2

I think they are a very useable road car with the later models being more subtle, never found a drive in the GTR dull biggrin

I think a few people should do some research and see what actually goes into the making of a Gtr nismo. Take one for a test drive if you can find one, then compare to other cars of a similar spec and price, put your badge snobbery to one side and you maybe surprised!

They are indeed very mechanical in terms of noise and clunks. You KNOW you've changed gear, especially at low speed. I was more referring to the fun you get from actually "driving" a car; i.e adjusting throttle inputs and balancing the car mid corner and enjoying a lovely engine sound. IMHO the most fun can be had when you feel part of the car (cliché I know)

The GT-R is unique (in my experience) in that it feels/sounds both mechanical but also makes you feel 2nd fiddle to all the electro trickery going on. Simply put anyone could drive one fast, it will corner at far higher speeds than most would dare to attempt and does far too much of the driving for you. You will also grow extraordinary tired of the scroats in Astra VX-R's (other "hot" hatches are available) driving like complete tools trying to pass you/race you from the lights. :-)
I have owned 4 Gtrs and my latest is actually a nismo. I am afraid that it’s not the case that anyone can drive them fast, well certainly not on a public road and safely. The nismo can indeed corner very quickly just like a lot of cars but can be a real handful, mine certainly doesn’t do the driving for me. It is a very hardcore beast! The current Gtr is an astonishing piece of kit and is still up there with some of the best, even after 10 years. I do agree the new nismo is very pricey but very exclusive, I wouldn’t think twice about buying another!
According to your profile you drive a Merc and have never owned a GT-R?

Very impressive! The nismo must be a right blast. A friend of mine had an 09 plate mapped GTR and that was an absolute rocket, took me out in it once. What a machine!

just to add.

i saw this last month up close, and had a good chat with the team at Nissan.

There are alot of pre-orders for this car in japan (i believe around 50), but the price point is very high.

think nissan missing a trick but also has to price it above the previous nismo model.

some pics

looked amazing close up in the details (saying this as a 35 owner myself)
