Although I'm currently in a stopgap Citroen C1 a hot hatch will always be my default choice no matter what age I am.

Purely for practical reasons... in my area you can't go anywhere without getting stuck behind a dawdler bimbling along at 37mph in an NSL, without the overtaking ability of a small fast car every journey would take twice as long.

Defo a hot hatch in my eyes, and one of the few decent modern ones! I really do want one!

"Hot" is a state of mind and driving.

I drive a 2006 Fiesta 1.4 Zetec, sometimes, at 41.

It's not about the power.

I'm 37,

I think as a bloke in my late 30s it's a fine line between driving a tidy fast little car and looking like I'm trying to re-live my youth in a lairy hot hatch.
I don't buy all this mid life crisis/reliving your youth stuff, far more often the sort of people who judge 30s/40s guys with hot hatches are the ones who are gutted they have 4 kids and a Zafira or have had their car choice restricted in some way such as those requiring diesels to do .30,000 miserable miles a year.

35 with a modified Civic Type R.

8P Audi S3 3dr and I’m 35. Had a mk1, mk2 and mk4 gti in the past. It’s so impractical, but just feels special to drive. The chassis feels so stiff and in the damp the aged Quattro never puts a foot wrong. Treated it to four new MPS3’s yesterday. It feels old school yet is rock solid reliable. As it’s at the age where home maintenance won’t loose any value off it, it’s made me fall back in love with cars again.
But It has to go in the next six months due to a new job. I’m really wanting a mk7 gti but need diesel economy.

The wife has a R56 Mini Cooper S. it’s brilliant. Reminds me of the mk1 Golf.
