I admire them and it’s nice they exist. Also all the best to their owners.

However I do feel they are pointless. In recent years I have got my bike licence and had a couple of rides in classic cars.

This has made me realise that it’s a bit pointless spending Veyron money when you can spend superbike money, and it will be more exciting anyway. (I do appreciate that’s not comparing apples with apples).

Also it’s made me realise that actually driving a car is what I’m fascinated by, so I want to heel n toe, manage my own traction as I exit a corner etc. Yes it will be slower but I will be doing all the work. A bit like a musician playing an instrument vs listening to a Recording.

I’m bored and fed up with all cars tbh! Selling my gti pp out of boredom as I’ve just got a company car shed that actually gets more use so the gti sits there all day now

So based on that a supercar or hypercar at the moment has no interest to me either!

Hyper cars are to me just like F1. Technically interesting but I have no way to relate to them and thus no emotional interest. This will not trouble the manufacturers of such vehicles obviously.

We need to help this man!

My advice would be sell the GTI and buy buy something much cheaper but still fun.
Plenty of interesting cars out there sub £5k.
A lot of the fun can be in a rolling restoration or gentle modification/improvements.
E.g. tracking down the right alloys on eBay or a drivers seat without a knackered bolster etc.
Then plan some trips or trackdays.

Or book an ARDS test and get your racing license.
This will open up a whole new world.

In my experience it’s more fun thrashing an old Clio around a track than staring at a new car on the driveway that you’re scared to put the miles on.

It’s more do do with typing on an iPhone without glasses. I know how to spell McLaren, thanks, am I’m not struggling. Curious that you’re so offended that it’s ‘British’. Not quite sure what that has to do with it, but I can guess.
In that case, I apologise. I share your problem, but luckily my smartphone adds words to its dictionary to make my life easier. I must try Koenigsegg (and if that's the correct spelling its more luck than judgement).

I like looking at the pictures of them, but generally, no.

Anyone can produce a fast car if they can sell for 2 million. The engineering challenges today are doing something well at a price point. A forgotten art nowadays

The only new supercar (if you classify it as such) that I would have is a new GT3 RS. From the past I would take an F40 and XJ220.

You can keep your new super/hypercars that are ten-a-penny, latest and greatest for all of a month or two before they are superseded.

From a keen drivers perspective they are also questionable - excessive performance but also auto box, e-diffs, hydraulic suspension, electric steering and a plethora of ESP/TCS to keep it on the road.

Sports cars, yes. Supercars and hypercars, not so much. I think I'm just a bit old-school.

I have lost interest in most of the market. Souped up family cars, from hot hatches to M5s, just horribly compromised by their original purpose. Even most sports cars and GTs are porky, over-refined things. Hypercars are all well and good but that level of conspicuous consumption seems a bit vulgar.

I thought the 4C, Alpine, Mono, and that thing from Dubai were interesting.

I used to be when i was younger but there seemed to less supercars or hypercars then. Now there seems to be more choice and manufacturers are releasing more limited edition models.

I do quite like the Bugatti Chiron. However, my favourite hypercar is the McLaren F1 which has BMW S70/2 NA V12.
Quite looking forwards to Gordon Murray T25.

Yeah me too.

A) could never afford one
B) Think they all look quite similar to an extent
C) Millions of bhp that can't be used literally anywhere and won't be used either

Anyone else think they'll be completely useless in say 20 years time too? Particularly the EV ones where the tech is not exactly standard . Wonder how long it will be supported

Same feeling as most other posters here: I think my interest in mega/hyper cars peaked with the Carrera gt generation. Reading this weeks Autocar, I was far more interested in the 968 buying guide than the article on the new Lotus, maybe it’s an age thing.
How old are you ?

i'm not interested and most performance stuff nowadays because they're simply too heavy and not configured for driving involvement. That lack of interest starts with the hottest hatches sadly.
Although out of my budget, cars like the Pagani & Koenigsegg intrigue as they're light, driver focused and everything has function as well as form.

Caterham by Pagani? where is Murray's sports car?

The T50 will weigh 980kg with 650bhp.

Any good? wink

Sadly, unless you have £600k for a deposit, and even then you have to prove to GM why you want it (not to sell/make money), you're out of luck.

i might be easy to please, how about one with 300hp for 150k?
i'd value the balance over outrageous bhp.
i know i know... 300hp wouldn't sell.

No it's £600k (he offered one to me - like I have that sort of money!), and there is no interview, he's choosing people who he thinks will be interested. Others have asked for one and he's refused several already. He sells to drivers, not speculators.

Looking at pictures of them and pouring over them on the internet? Nah, no thanks. Lost interest many years ago now.

Seeing them up close in person at the likes of Goodwood FOS and admiring the styling, hearing the sound they make and understanding the use of cutting edge technology? Yes please!
