About 5 years ago I felt the 360 looked dated but now it’s starting to look a bit more like a classic. I think there is a point where cars suddenly start to look good again. IMO the 360 has just hit that point.
Fully agree, although I think it needs the CS front bumper - makes a huge difference imo (and ideally the mirrors)Much prettier car than the 430 standard vs standard imo
And much better sounding than all the V8s that followed

Yes, you don't have to take the engine out of a 360 to change the cambelt which was a first for mid engined V8s I think.
I think the 360 is a far prettier car than the F430 which looks too fussy. I guess I'm in the minority here but I also think it looks better than the F355 but I get the appeal of its looks. I think there's an inherent dislike for the 360 probably as Clarkson bad mouthed the twitchy handling and he preferred his 355 but of all the mid-V8 Ferraris I think I would choose that (regardless of cost).
I’m with you, i do love them all and the 355 is a legend but to my eyes the 360 is better resolved and just sits on the classic / modern divide nicely. Glass engine cover and manual gate are the cherry on the cake. I think the 360 is a far prettier car than the F430 which looks too fussy. I have an F355. At full chat the wail of the flat plane crank V8 is spine tingling.
A herd of dancing Donkeys passed through Kimbolton a while back, some drivers entertained themselves by revving the tits off their engines along the High Street. The racket sounded ste to me. blade7 said:

I swapped my auto 360 for a manual one a few years back and enjoyed it a lot before I pulled it to bits to mess about with it. They are a really wonderful car and are very satisfying to work on.
They strip down with simple tools and are just the right side of complicated for a decent home mechanic to work on. Unfortunately bits are expensive but if you have patience there are lots of resources and a good community where you can pick up well priced parts from time to time.
They drive brilliantly and this article has inspired me to get the spanners out and get mine back together! Fantastic

This is exactly the kind of post that I was hoping to see. It's good to know that there's community and capability for the "ordinary" owner. I doubt that a PH thread of you at work with the prancing horse would go unnoticed. There's something to be said for setting aside the elements of mystery and haut monde that can accompany cars like this.
I’ll do something when I put it back together - I had a thread running on Ferrarichat for it when I started it.
Basically I’ve acquired all the 360 challenge and Challenge Stradale bits to build a hybrid between a 360 Modena and those two cars. I’ve got a low miles stradale engine and gearbox and brand new everything that moves suspension wise also CS along with a set of brand new ceramic brakes and a full interior. From the race car I’ve got stuff like vented back screen and different oil cooling strategies along with a few other choice alterations. Should be mega.
Below is an interesting picture. It shows the challenge stradale gearbox which has slightly different ratios fitted which I fitted with the restored manual gear selection actuator. Basically, what I’m saying is that if you wanted to you can make a manual car out of an auto. You can even buy stuff like the three pedal footbox etc reasonably easily...

Always been curious about these, but honestly, I didn't buy them when they were 30k, so I cant see me buying one at 60k.
If anything, I always thought the 430 was the better car, and I don't really care about looks, but I'm more interested in fitness of purpose. The 430 is both subjectively, and objectively, a better car.
And in saying that, my money wouldn't go to either of these, because in a way, to go out and buy a Ferrari is just too lemming-like. Anyone with a bit of money can do it, and the safe bet is just running with the herd. Live a little. Get out of the comfort zone. Do something that will make you both sweat, and make your bits fizz (Ultima GTR Evolution).
Ultimas are very cool, but hardly comparable to a Ferrari that you can use as a daily driver - also good luck finding an Evo for sale / waiting time last time I asked was 2 years plus for a new one (and a lot more money than a used 360)If anything, I always thought the 430 was the better car, and I don't really care about looks, but I'm more interested in fitness of purpose. I can’t see past the parking.
1) It’s crap parking in any car
And
2) it may be cheap for what it is but it is still a £50k car. Parking it on the kerb like they are just nipping to the bank “just for 5 min. I just need to get £10 out” is unforgivable.

But then I do own an old MX5 and a white 320d (but not on finance I’m afraid)... Sorry, an NC 2.0 sports pack and an F30 powered by a 2l 4cl driven by the devils juice.
I had a manual one of these for over 5 years, I bought it at £43k and sold it for £73k. This was sold about 3 or 4 years ago.
Over those years I had it serviced every year with cam belts when recommended which I think was every 3, I had a great Indy do it, Migliore Cars Bromsgrove, They were great and very fair.
An annual service was about £500 and cam belts about double with other bits and bobs.
Cam belts are done through the bulkhead as opposed to 355 where it’s an engine out job so 360 belts are about half the price.
Car very reliable and good to actually go places in for the weekend.
It came with a Tubi but it was just too much so I put a standard system on it and sold the Tubi for about a grand on eBay so free running costs that year.
Enjoyed it, did about 7k miles in as the kids were quite young then and always seemed to need three or more seats on sunny weekends.
I would go back to Ferrari but the only model I would be interested in is a 430 Scuderia.
I do think it’s ageing very well looks wise but still not as pretty as a 355 though.

There's probably lots of reasons not to get a Ferrari but I've never thought it was a lemming-like thing to do. Guess that makes me a lemming out of my own comfort zone And in saying that, my money wouldn't go to either of these, because in a way, to go out and buy a Ferrari is just too lemming-like. Ferrari 360 Spider is ace. Ultima GTR is ace. Chalk and cheese tho.

Considered one of these when they were £40 and got a 997 instead head/heart decision. Ended up putting a new gearbox in the 997. Had it for 4 years and wonder if I'd have been better off with the 360 financially
I did the same. My mate went for a 360. The Ferrari was definately the best financial decision. Moneypit+appreciation beat Moneypit+depreciation hands down.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
