RE: Shed of the Week | Nissan Primera GT
Discussion
Had mine for seven years. SR20 is the best 4 banger ever made by Nissan. My 3sgte I have now just doesn't sound as good. Always have thoughts of getting a white import with the SR20VE as a useable daily. I miss the sunroof. Such a rarity on today's cars.
Mine had JDM quads which gave it a much better look. Had to be a white saloon as I was mad into Toca back in the day.
Car was solid just a shame it rusted to bits in the end.
Double wishbone suspension akin to the skyline. Things like GTR brakes were a bolt on upgrade. You could even get 4wd versions in Japan.

My wife had one.....
I bloody loved the primera, it felt fast light and grippy.
Thats a good description of they feel, good steering sharp turn in and agile grippy chassis, plus a very revvy motor, a good combination, bizzare in such a frumpy bland looking family hatch.I bloody loved the primera, it felt fast light and grippy.

This is one that I helped look after , built by Nissan Motorsport Europe and run originally by Team Rosberge in the Spanish Super Touring series. It now runs in Historic Touring cars . I have owned 2 2ltr Primeras , both were excellent for what they were , the last one I passed on to my in-laws at the time and they loved it . The only thing that failed on either was an alternator .
The race version above was a very different beast under the skin
The engine had been turned 180 degrees the bonnet grill was the opening for the inlet tract , the engine sat much further back and much lower in the engine bay , sequential box , twin 4 pot calipers on each corner at the front , single 4 pots on the rear . On board brake bias , on board roll bar adjustment , 3 on board engine management settings etc etc . Originally cost £250k new , they were doing the rounds at one time second hand for £12-13 k with a spares package now they are part of the Historic meetings I think you can add a nought to those prices .
There is a very nice orange GT locally that I have been tracking for 5 years but the owner won't part with it .

Awful car, end of.
Sorry, but you sir have no idea what you are saying. Not the quickest - particularly by today's standards - but such a great drive. Look nothing, drive great and to my mind the ultimate Q-car.
I have had 2 previous gen P10 in my past. First one a 4 door eZX second a five door eGT. Sadly missed......
People do tend to dismiss them , then suddenly you find an enthusiastically driven one glued to your back bumper down the twisty bits .
You do have to drive them with gusto to get the best out of them . A proper induction system along with a proper exhaust and some descent tyres and it will certainly suprise quite a few unsuspecting "performance " rides on the bendy bits .

There have been a few wet track days where this Primera has been one of the quickest cars on circuit, a combination of good tyres and great handling that gives the driver confidence to push and the quick stuff can't keep up at that point which is what makes it jolly good fun on track. You do have to drive them with gusto to get the best out of them . I'm 99% sure you're confusing the earlier eGT (bland jelly mould with a strong 150bhp engine, and supposedly entertaining handling), with the next generation GT (featured here), which was a bit bigger, heavier and softer. That generally didn't go down so well I think.
Maybe I'm mis-remembering.
