RE: Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997.2) | Rise

I didn't think he's voice is that bad... there are a hell of a lot more out there that are somehow making a living out of standing in front of a camera and doing an impression of the end of a bell.
lol at the vanishing sheep at 5:40 though!
Awesome awesome car.. The best thing I ever did was dumping the 991GT3 and getting into a 7.2RS

3.8 7.2 RS - one of the finest cars ever made. Chris Harris/Francois Delecour
above film is just great !
EVO mags best car ever tested
Currently in classifieds - barely a few 997.2 RS yet a 100 991.2 RS.
All for good reason

Nice review by Dan, you will never make everyone happy doing a video review unless your first name starts with H.

Going back to the car, the price of this 997.2 GT3 RS has got into the stratosphere. Strange considering it is on the turbo body which adds weight and also, more importantly, width.
The 997.1 GT3 has not this issue. The only thing against is is slightly gawky rear tail lights, but you won't have rear view camera to be worried about that of course in day to day driving, Considering all that, this looks pretty good bang per buck

As an aside, the latest 718 spyder got some very "flowery" wheels, which seemed slightly out of place to me considering of all those hard core racing center lock racing type wheels of late.
However now seeing the GT3 997 wheels
I can see where they got the inspiration from.
The 997 wheels still better IMO though neither are what I would call a classic 5 spoke racing wheel.

Good vid!
I had a 7.1 and 7.2 RS, (both bought new) at the same time for a number of years. The 7.2 was undoubtedly the superior car, especially in the wet. When the 991RS came out I had a deilmma as to which car to sell to make room. Although it was a better car I let it go- too much emotional attachment to the earlier car which was the first RS I had managed to get my hands on. I still have it.

That is a serious amount of money! Not sure my driving ability would be able to get any more out of it than a nice 3.8 for 30% of the price. browngt3 said:
Would you prefer Shmee?
At the risk of sounding jealous, he is irritating as hell and always seems to be picking up a new car these days or going on a trip somewhere, and no, I don't watch his videos. Long since blocked. Same for that twunt Seen Through Glass.997 RS' especially the 4.0 were poster cars for me and still are. 991's dont do it for me. As the 996 gets older Im starting to like those more and more too.
Cant believe what they sell for now

Good summary of the 997.2 GT3RS. When asked what it’s like to drive, I used to summarise it by saying you had to ‘sing for your supper’ driving this car. It’s pretty raw (not as raw as 996GT3RS) and could literally give you a headache when driving down to the Alps. The 991GT3RS is much more refined and GT’esque in nature, but you loose some of the rawness and interaction of the 997.2. Always felt that the 997.2 could do with an extra 50hp and you do need to work the close ratio box to get the most out of the mezger engine, which is mega and probably one of the best engines of any car. Get the car on circuit and it’s nature changed, perfectly balanced and tons of grip and hunkers down and trail braking helped to pin down the front end. In that respect, you had to get in the groove to drive this car well, otherwise it could frustrate you.
Good analysis JP, she can beat you up a bit this one, but the rewards are amazing - the sound, grip, steering feel, chassis poise and outright pace - all present in spades. Coming from the vanilla 997.2 GT3 before it, it feels like everything is ramped up a few notches - particularly the shorter gearing and wider track which are definitely noticeable over the standard car. Anyway, early days but I’m enjoying getting to know your old steed

JebusI do wonder if in 10 years the few guys who are ragging GT2 RS's around the ring will regret it when clean ones are 1mill+
or even more seeing that a 993 GT2 sold for $2.4mill

I'd love to know how to do that. That's the one snag with those roads that I've always been very much aware of when I driven there. The sheep are near suicidal.
FWIW I though it was a decent video. I think this, though, will continue to be my all time favourite 997 GT3 RS video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv0Gr5gz1Gw
