f it was an XC60 from 2014 onwards, it wasn't the ZF 8 speed, but an Aisin one. HTH.
Yup - the ZF 8HP only appears in cars with longitudinal engines. It's never been installed in any Volvo.
After a boozy night and modest win at the casino, I got home and put a cheeky low bid on a spec b. Woke up and found I'd won it. Promptly made my way to Melton Mowbray, it was a division of a Vauxhall dealership moving on part ex's. Anyway, great drive home ond two years of trouble free, 4WD fun with a good sound track, Very juicy as stated but nothing but praise for my only Subaru ownership experience.
Had a 2006/56 Outback version with this H6 engine in. Bought some smaller wheels with snow tyres from fleabay for the winter months. Then fell in love with it and turned out to be a lot longer than just the winter.
Whilst the H6 isn't going to set the world alight, and the auto box absorbs the power too much, there is something about the noise and smoothness that made me keep it. Interior is typical Japanese... everything worked, trim stayed aligned, no squeeks, but not exactly a Bentley in terms of luxury!
Only reason I got rid was the dire MPG. Best I managed was 30.1mpg on a long, 65mph run from Huddersfield to Norwich. Anything around town never saw 20+, so it had to go - and got what I paid for it.
Now I have a Golf GTD on the drive, I would love another, in Legacy Tourer Spec.B guise and just accept it's a weekend novelty, followed by putting a sticker over the MPG computer and forgetting about it.

Have had a 05 (so as young as less ridiculous tax) Manual spec B estate for last year. Not shed money (!) but has been a great car other than mpg which debating lpg to fix (more for co2 output as doesn't do millions of miles).
With a stainless steel exhaust it sounds very 911ish, just about fast and practical enough!

What’s the story?milu said:
I was looking at it just last night. I thought that would make a good shed of the week.
I fancy it but it’s a long way from me
Looks like MILU has decided it is not too far away and worth further investigation.I fancy it but it’s a long way from me

I've forever been looking at these but I can't be feeling that I'm getting short changed.
It's the economy. Surely a 9-5 Aero is faster and surely a wee bit more economical along more space in the back.
The boxer six would sound better though and tbh,if you lean on a tweaked 9-5 it'll not do much more than 20 mpg anyway. It's the economy. Surely a 9-5 Aero is faster and surely a wee bit more economical along more space in the back.
I had an 05 from 18K miles to over 120K and I loved it.
Poor economy isn't a big issue for me, neither is high tax. I don't spend money on much else so the car is really my only indulgence.
I tried it on higher profile winter tyres one year and loved the ride so much, I left them on all year. I'd change them at the end of November each year to ensure a good set going into winter.
Real wheel bearings could have been expensive if I left it to a Subaru garage but I found cheap ones online and did it myself.
Front brake calipers were a problem - they had to be rebuilt and through one cock up after another, left me without the car for a week.
The Y piece of the exhaust rotted away so I replaced it with a Hayward & Scott centre section, and a mate who worked at Prodrive got me a deal on a pair of tail pipes but it was a mistake and the car was left far too loud - something I regretted for the 2 years before I sold it.
Overall though it was the best car ever in the snow, and in the wet or dry gave enough confidence to drive around the outside of other cars on many slip road corners.
The 5-speed auto felt old fashioned but this model of Legacy can tow more than the newer ones because their CVT boxes aren't as strong. I fitted the towbar myself - piece of cake with the plug-in electrics.

Well the eagle(sotw) has landed!
Good drive back,300 miles total so far. Showing 27mpg but didn't reset at start so I'm guessing actually done more on the run
Everything seems to work and even got touchscreen infotainment 2005 stylee
Tidy car overall. Few bits but very happy so far, especially at sub asking price.
Fruity exhaust ok but might need a cat refitting because it's a bit fumy when ticking over. No smoke or anything nasty though.
Must give a big thumbs up to the seller. Great communication throughout and very honest too. Went out of his way to accommodate collection today also..

i never giit more than 27mpg from my 95 aero, and found it very dated and dull. I'm sure a boxer 6 would offer a lot more, o.k slightly worse mpg but you get so much more. It's the economy.
