Sort of a follow on from the 'Driving a car like a t*t' thread;
Live on a residential road, 20 zone, speed humps, primary school opposite. Speeding lately has got pretty chronic- don't get me wrong, I think, and there are probably many others on here who agree that 20 may be too low outside of school hours, but I'm estimating some of these cars are doing at least 45+. One repeat offender is a 20+ year old modified Integra with what sounds like 2 cherry bombs, as the noise even at crawling speeds- which he doesn't do that often- is biblical! Now the noise in isolation I could live with, but the speed he drives up our road, it's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt in my opinion. So my question for the PH collective is:does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this sort of issue? Local plod don't seem too interested and based on his driving attitude, he doesn't seem like the type of guy who will listen to reason if I was to pop round to his house one evening for example.
Aside from the usual 'move house' and 'hammer frozen sausages in his lawn' suggestions, any advice would be much appreciated.

So you're telling me you wouldn't feel exactly the same about some pillock doing twice the speed limit past a primary school every day?

Unfortunately this. There will always be selfish cretins who behave in an anti-social manner. there isn’t much you can do without descending to their level.

Nope.

1. Kids shouldn't be in the middle of the road.
2. If you hang about in the middle of the road you're going to get run over.
3. Cars don't drive on pavements.

I don’t think there’s an awful lot you can do other than have a word if you know where he lives if the police aren’t interested.

We used to live on a hill that was a bit of a cut through and people would often drive like hell ends up and down the hill despite the speed bumps.

And what about when someone crosses the road and misjudges the speed of the car? Or said car loses control at a high speed and ploughs into someone?.. Actually, you know what, it's fairly obvious you're either trolling, trying to get some kind of reaction, or you're actually the pr*ck in the integra. And going off your previous posts you probably need to hand your licence back to whichever cereal company sold you the packet.

Have you ever done this before and it's worked? I'm not a powerfully built company director like some on this forum so cant go down the intimidation route 😂

You will get a little joy or support on this site for comments like that I’m afraid. I have also posted in the past about the ridiculous speed people have gone outside my house in a 30, however the PistonHeads massive don’t believe/care/aren’t interested. Tossers in all walks of life I’m afraid. Little can be done apart from telling the police but frankly it’s futile.

You could always stage to crash into him when he’s driving like a dick no doubt he will get some points for careless driving. Before anyone gets on their high horse that comment was a joke by the way

I thought this forum would be more supportive if anything, and as I said in my OP i think 20 is probably a little low outside of school hours. Don't get me wrong, I'm guilty of going a few mph over on quiet b roads or whatever, but a residential road with speed bumps is extracting the urine somewhat.

Hope you manage to sort out your speeding issue too!

I joined the local community speedwatch but they have very little power or influence at all. Just hope the dicks crash into each other and no one else. Guy in an m3 is the worst here. Rags it all the time. 50 in a 30 no probs.

That's what you think... I walk to work every day. 1 mile each way. In the past couple of years I've had three drivers who felt like parking their cars on the pavement I happened to be walking on just aimed straight at me and expected me to get out of their way.

A is a , whether they're on the road, on the pavement, outside a school, in a car, on a bike, etc....

I’m not talking about intimidation, I was more thinking trying to talk to him in a sensible fashion. But judging by some of your replies on here, it seems you may struggle with that a tad.

If the coppers don’t want to get involved and you want to resolve it, one of your only sensible options is to try talking to him. Try not to be condescending etc. It may get through, it may not.

It can work... be friendly, state concerns that are reasonable, the driver will be more open to your point of view, but be prepared to have no effect or be ignored or whatever. Can even express an interest in their car and talk about that for a bit - if you have any, I guess. Talk to them like you'd expect someone to talk to you if you felt you'd done nothing wrong and they thought differently.
