Gorgeous but that interior is troubling, the more you look the worse it gets.

The driver's watch is an IWC Big Pilot ... I'm not sure which exact edition but costing anywhere between 8 and 20 K depending on model and case material.

Hope this helps ... wink

A man of horology and honour. Thank you for these details, Sir. Handsome watch. And impressive price points.

I wouldn't mind the power but for the extra on top of a DB11 I'd want a better/nicer/different interior.

Love the 'idea' of an Aston Martin but the reality is a let down.
Could never be confident regarding reliability & the Volante has much too big an arse, is far too wide to be practical other than as a pose & that interior is so so cheap looking, all lumps & bumps. It maybe leather but still drab.

As an aside I have guested at some AM OC club events & have never met so many snobs, many sneering at anything made after the Stone Age.

Interesting. The Aston owners I bumped into at Le Mans were far more earthy.
Mostly powerfully built, very tanned, huge watches, big arms covered in a lot of ink, collars up on their polo shirts etc.

Perhaps not the suave international men of mystery that the Aston brand would like but they were great fun, very generous and loved their cars.

These combine mean looks with a bit of grace.
Quite rare today.

Makes sense of the standard DB11 styling that looked slightly off around the back end somehow IMHO.

Modern Astons are actually pretty reliable. The last genuinely troublesome cars were the first gen vanquish and DB7, anything from DB9 onwards can be used as a trouble free daily driver. With it's Merc running gear the current range is likely to be even more reliable still.

As for the owners, I think that's not so much Aston owners in general and more the very specific kind of Aston owner that is likely to turn up at an AMOC event. They are not representative of the wider group. Other owners on the Aston section of the PH forums have given up on the AMOC because of the same attitude you mentioned to the newer cars.

Seems similar to the McLaren owners club.

Plenty of decent McLaren owners on PH but the MOC have swooped in en masse to save us from any notions that McLarens aren't perfect.

And one poster in particular reports you if you don't agree with everything he preaches.

And PH mods let it happen. For shame.

For me, there is something about the DBS that just doesn’t work. The exterior designer seems amateur and fails to provide any real drama. There’s nothing here you haven’t seen somewhere before and there is something a little generic about it.

But for me the real tragedy is the interior. The steering wheel is enormous and hideous, the gauge cluster unsightly, the air vents look like they’re pointing the wrong way and there is no effort to hide MB’s influence either. Even the DBS font in the headrests looks childish.

That I would rather pay £300,000 for a 10 year old DBS is disconcerting. To me at least. The Vantage looks so fun and fresh, but they lost their way with this.
agree with this post completely

Is the driver very small or is the car rather big?

Aston Martin needs to stop playing with my feelings. First the DBS, then the Vanquish S, and now this beauty... Glorious.

Saying that, so was the DBS IMO:-
Agreed, the Vanquish Volante looked like a 200k + car. This however, doesn’t.
The Vanquish volante is utterly gorgeous, but you can see the evolution in the DBS Volante.....it’s just a shame they picked the wrong colour scheme for the article. The photos just don’t demonstrate it’s presence.

What a great car! Especially the beautiful exterior looks, both top open or closed!

Had also the opportunity to drive a few hours with the new DBSS Volante, and it is a very good car, a way up from the previous DBS and Vanquis models. Power and Torque are enormous, and the suspension is comfortable AND sporty enough for a GT car. Can easily be a daily driver, if needed.

The main dissatisfiers, however, are still the automatic tranmission and the interior:
- The ZF-8 is a good auto box, but it does not fit a top of line sportcar like the DBSS should be. Upshifting is good and fast, but down shifting too "lazy", too much delay, no sporty feeling whatsoever (also not in Sport+ mode). It seems they can fix this "easily" with a software upgrade, but even better when they can use the AMG MCT-9 or DSG-8 gearbox asap!
- The interior is not ugly, but from the inside it does not feel like a Euro 300-400K (depending on the country and the options) car. The "silver" materials look and feel like plastic. A new Bentley Continental but even a previous DBS looks bettter from the inside imho. By choosing the right colours/colors, you can make it more "acceptable", but it makes it difficult to make the jump. Let's hope they will use a more recent Mercedes COMAND version and upgrade the interior accordingly very soon!

In driving and looks it is by far the most appealing car now on the market imho, but can imagine people decide to go for a new Continental GT(C) instead, exactly for these 2 reasons. Am really anxious to buy one, but also for me, these 2 things really hold me back, so let's hope some changes will be announced soon!
