Of course if I don’t get it from my wife often enough to keep the DPF clean then it’ll largely offset the fuel economy benefit!
How does getting it from your wife keep the DPF clean?
She has a 3 mile commute that it’s used for and isn’t often driving any further. So it’s a good excuse for me to go out in the car and try to get it hot.

Horrible colour, too expensive.
I'll have the vRS thanks
You do realise that it's available in other colours, don't you?

I think this car highlights just how desperately Ford needs a decent range of capable EV's in it's near future.
I think you could say that about most OEMs. None of them really have much of a range of EVs currently. Though that is of course assuming that EVs are the answer to all our prayers, which is still very much up for debate.

3 mile commute in a diesel is madness!

Madness in any car to my mind but I’m not brave enough to suggest otherwise to her again.

They will do it though. Provided there is some better use (longer runs) mixed in there.

Seemed worth a mention as the article suggests and my experience of looking for VRS adverts supported, there are a lot of people out there buying these go faster models with the tdi engines.

I looked for an E34 tourer at the time, quite fancied an old minter with a big 6 in it. But there just weren’t any at the time. But I’m in awe of the engineering in the newer car. It can make them feel less involving and more contrived, but it’s all in the effort of making a more convenient cosseting car for the majority. And when that’s what you need most of the time it’s being used but is just superb.

I suspect the ST tdi is a similar beast to the Skoda and a great option over a standard focus diesel. A bit more fun, but at the end of it, relentlessly good at moving you around.
