Nope - I hated them then but I want a early turbo in a refined colour, beige interior with the optional spare wheel on the back now.

For those who think the SZ is the wildest Alfa of all time, I fear you are forgetting the 90 with its built-in briefcase! smile

Matra x3 seater

I walked past one everyday as a student and stopped to peer through the window every time.

The current one is nowhere near as ghastly as this one for me. It always takes Porsche a while to get the styling of their cars right imo. I didn't like the styling of either the Cayman or Boxster when they first came out, but the current models are better now.

I'd have to agree there. Not a fan of the Cayenne, but the newer ones look far better. And I really can't get to grips with the original Boxster, it looks too similar from the front and the rear. Whereas I do really like the new shape, it's far better proportioned.

ETA: In fact, I think (in my opinion only) that Porsche had a bit of a dip in the late 90's and 2000's when it comes to styling. I think the 996/997 were a step back from the 993. And the first gen Boxsters/Cayenne's weren't quite right (to me, side on the curves in the front and rear lower bumper makes them look a bit boat-like). But the current line up is spot on.

Some cars were wild but succesful so you now think of them as normal.
Audi RS2 created a new niche.
What niche was that?

The fast, 4x4 turbo estate was around a bit before that in the 100 S4 Avant.
