Are these not the ultimate in style over substance, chosen to follow the fashion crowd suggesting a shallow approach to life?
I think the real sad thing is people who come out with comments like yours. And no, I dont own or want an SUV.

You could argue that also applies to those who slate them. Reading the unoriginal comments on here, "skip, bathtub" etc, I suspect lots of people hate them because hating them is the really treny position to take, so you can ride on the same bandwagon as Chris Harris and co. Everyone wants to be in the cool crowd, and hating them is cool. '

Personally I think lots of people hate them because they look awful.
Personally, I think lots of people hate them because they are so self-centred or narrow-minded that they can't understand that some cars might not have been designed for them personally, but might still sell by the boat-load in other demographics / climates / economies.TartanPaint said:

What someone else likes is up to them. Some people don't seem to understand that!
It's not trying to be cool (as suggested above) or that I don't understand that it's not designed for me personally. I simply don't like they way they look.
That's a legitimate, and very common reason for liking or disliking a car.

Wait...
Any car is bought to project a message or image, whether wealth, affluence, taste etc.
So if you put it out there to be judged, don't moan when others judge you.
It's the same with everything we buy.
What if someone’s just bought it because they like it? Any car is bought to project a message or image, whether wealth, affluence, taste etc.

What if they’re unaware or unconcerned about your views on their car, because it won’t effect them in any way?
There are a lot of people pushing their own insecurities into others here, oh they’ve got a convertible they must be attention seeking types.
Or it might just be nice to drive about with the roof off.

I've never been accused of trying to be cool and am in no danger of achieving it. Maybe people can see through the bull and that's the real reason?Everyone wants to be in the cool crowd, and hating them is cool. '

2 sides to the argument, everybody picks their car with an element of what other people will think of them for driving it, if people think a convertible SUV is cool in their perception so what, or If you say you don't give a toss what others think, maybe think that is what convertible SUVs drivers think also.
Yup, buyer of an Evoque convertible may not care what people think.I suspect the reality is they are bought precisely because they do care thinking it's the latest thing to have. The real reason it's a pretentious car is it's whole purpose is to be fashion statement and nothing more.
I might just about accept it's easier to get in/out or a higher riding car but I doubt most buyers consider this.

Yeah I can see that. Jumping to conclusions and following stereotypes.
All very sad.
It's an opinion based on what I believe, maybe those stereotypes are right. Sorry if that makes you feel sad but we all have opinions and they're unlikely to be the same. All very sad.

So in many ways, you sound like you have a similar outlook to any buyers.
