Am I missing something? The Raptor ditched the V8 4(?) years ago?

Careful with the greasepaint. wink

The C8 Corvette looks to be an official import -- meaning a direct transaction between the manufacturer (or its UK entity) and the UK retailer. This would create a slightly but notably different series of maths than in this thread.

Also... IIRC, the majority of the price-oriented comments on the popular C8 thread were expecting a GBP figure that, at the very least, begins with an 8.
Towards the end maybe or by people who think before they post, but early on many posters were saying how awesome it will be to get one for in the £60k region.

on a tangential note... I remember when I decided that the world had come to an unfortunate end, when UK friends and colleagues began to make everyday use of the terms "awesome" and "you guys" hehe

I tend to agree. You can buy GT350Rs now for under MSRP...and their exchange rate is hugely pessimistic. I don't know the costs of converting a car for use in the UK, but the numbers sound a little high.

Obviously some of the above does depend on when the vehicle was purchased...but it wasn't that long ago that the exchange rate was over 1.3.

My recollection was that it was Hennessey etc supercharging them.

Hi all,

As the supplying dealer we found it necessary to explain the pricing as with all imports its not as simple as changing the dollar sign into a pound sign. As the vehicle has the tech pack the actual vehicle cost is $70,230.00. In the Us the MSRP pricing strategy means Ford dealers charge premiums for vehicles in demand and charge sales tax on top of advertised figures.

See an open breakdown below:

Vehicle Cost 70,230
Ford Dealership charge $4,000.00
State tax @ 7% $4,916.10
Local Inland Shipping $1,200.00
Sub Total 80,346

Ocean Frieght to Uk - Including insurance $2,000.00
Duty $8,234.61
Sub Total $90,580.71

FX £1 $1.20
GBP Purchase Price (inc Duty) £75,483.93
CS management Fee £5,000.00
Uk homoligation / Uk Registration £2,500.00
Uk inland Shipping £500.00
Sub Total £83,483.93

VAT £16,696.79
Total Sale Price GBP £100,180.71
First Reg Fee £55.00
UK RFL £250.00

Offer Price £100,485.71
Thanks for posting this, really useful!

Ah whoops, my bad. Thought Raptors were supercharged back then but making Hennessey mistakes. Will sort it out!

It's the done thing, isn't it.

Engage in social media. Bring facts. Dispel any misunderstanding or rumour about cheeky gains, a wandering Elvis, or secretly holding on to that patent for a water-powered engine that oil companies don't want you to know about.

In truth, we could say: being a leader.

Isn't the US price before whatever local taxes are aplicible though?
$67k = £55k + 10% Duty + VAT = £72k plus the shipping isn't it?
Being pedantic, but I think the VAT is on everything inc shipping

So (£55k + 10% + shipping, insurance, fees) + 20%

Still, limited run cars with high demand with a mark up is nothing new. However I suppose we are accustomed to them coming with a Porsche badge attached these days.

Too rich for me, for that money an Evora GT430 I think would be a better all round prospect for road and track use.

So that's £100,000 plus for a Ford? A cheaply built one (apart from the lovely engine), at that. No amount of aero and fancy wheels make it worth that much.
