I had a little play with the configuartor (again), this time trying to be sensible:

£ 85'800
It's a black Carrera, with black leather interior and a total in options of £ 3'007:

- Sports Exhaust @ 1'844
- LED Main Headlights @ 699
- Park Assist @ 464

The 4S I configured with some more options came to £ 142'278. £ 43'860 being options... woohoo

I'm sure that you don't need the latter two options on the sensible spec Carrera, as the names of the options are misleading, because both LED headlights (you're pay for dynamic LEDs) and front & rear parking sensors (you're paying for a parking camera) are standard.

It's 2.024m wide now and still the bum gets bigger. The 997 had a big bum in it's day compared to the 993

Aye.Your Carerra 3.2 in the '80's had to be finished in "dog knob" red. Matched your braces.

Still think there's way too much gaping black below the bumper line both front and back. These areas on 991s looked much better.

This is a very unflattering angle / colour, and I don't think it looks as bad in lighter colours

Not many 992s will be used as hearses so don't worry.

To me that makes it look even worse.

Flared bottom to go with the wheel arches.

Likely a £100K car, the wheels look ridiculous, overall it’s lost a lot of what makes the 911 look quite ‘right’. Quite bloated from the rear, the cab has always looked awkward, this one is little different.

As for dynamics, most wont care smile

Plus potential 10% hard Brexit surcharge.

Order now whilst they are cheap £.

If it turns out that most potential buyers of these don't actually buy in the numbers Porsche expect or is that want?, then Porsche may be well advised to build a new model altogether; something like a 911 'original' series. 910? 902? 1300kgs and 8/10th the size. j

It drives beautifully. Get one and try it. I'm 3K miles into mine, using it on Scottish back roads and it's astonishingly capable. I think a year or two in, post initial depreciation with prices more accessible, people are going to realise just how good it is.

Sounds fair to me - but I will be interested to hear your opinion when you get a chance to drive it. Grip levels are enormous and the 'box is very clever, both the modern approach. I've enjoyed turbos in any number of drivers cars over the years. These are pretty seamless. I've read some reviews talking about lag, but I see that as criticism for the sake of it.

Shut the doors, drive a few miles to get everything warmed up, then enjoy it. It simply delivers. I have no doubt that the GT models will dial things up. But as a car that can be used in all situations, the 992 strikes me as pretty peerless, as long as the 2+2 seating suits. It certainly is a drivers car in my subjective book. Exige drivers may disagree, but it's a car that begs to be driven and rewards when the opportunity arises.

That’s gibberish the 991.2 GTS is a fine drivers car in right spec, eg 2wd coupe with the right options. It’s far better than say an M4 CS

The 992 Cab is a shocker IMHO. Saw one against a 991 Cab. The back is just huge....especailly the "hump" aka tonneau which is much higher on the 992. 991 is a much better proportioned car.

Looks great to me, not cheap but were they ever ?

Fast enough for most and I bet it’s a fine thing to use every day.

Porsche keep nudging the game forward as always whilst so many seem to want to stick in 1985.

I was once given a 991 Carrera loaner which had been optioned to over £100k and what an unbearably bland car it was. I expect the 992 has had more refinement dialled in at the expense of driver involvement, at this level more than ever more GT than sports car. It will doubtless appeal to those who think they’ve made the sporting choice but as a car to really get under your skin, to get you out of bed in the morning to go driving just for the sake of it, forget it. I have two GT3s and they do just that and maybe the 992 GT3 will as well but I despair about the ever increasing size and weight of the car.
