Am I the only one that thought 'Meh, another 9km/h and he'd have hit a nice round 500km/h too' hehe

Well they are not the first 'road legal' car to go over 300mph (that's IF this car is actually road legal with all the mods they've done), as a few Texan Tuners in the US have already taken a 13 year old Ford GT over the 300mph about 6 months ago.
thanks for that news

You're welcome. Though by being 'European', I would default be cheering on our manufacturers from this side of the pond (well, we gotta keep that friendly Euro/US rivalry going!), there's no denying the incredible achievement of those lads in Texas. Massive, massive respect to them - and the driver of course, for being able to keep it pinned and get it to that speed in only a mile!!

I wonder if that was the original aim?

It doesn't seem that long ago that the F40 broke the 200mph for production cars.

Good to know you've got 250mph in reserve as you ponce down Kensington High Street trying to attract hot girls before you bugger off back to the UAE .

No-one with a mental age of 18 or more will buy one, those that do won't drive them much and nobody will do 300mph on a public road , or 99.99 % of race tracks . Should have been called Le Bugatti Elephant Blanc

Oh I am more than happy thanks. I just cannot find the latest VAG willy waving anything less then absurd . It seems to me that VAG was inspired by Spinal Tap in creating this silly car - but it thought it was a documentary .

I like the fact that manufacturers make silly willy waving cars. So much more interesting than most of the dull cars that they do make.

I'd happily buy one if I could afford it - mental age might not be much above 18 though in fairness

But at two million quid a pop they can hardly fail to get the odd headline. Nobody 99% of us know will ever buy one and I'd be far more impressed with a genuinely disruptive small sports car which I can at least dream of buying.

As far as I am concerned the first and last word on hypercars was the McLaren F1 - because it was designed to be light , normally aspirated and lack the host of driver aids without which the Chiron wouldn't be driveable.most of the time. And , of course the F1 did rather well on track , with a great competition record , despite being conceived as a road car.

And the only record the Chiron will take is for straight line speed , that is unless it goes to Bonneville where some good ol' boy would probably leave it for dust for less cost than the deposit on a Chiron

Surely this will be launched as the Chiron Super Sport as it looks like a modern Veyron Super Sport

Yep, its a bit of fun that's all. Im glad stuff like this is made, even if I never even see one for real.

It would be nice to see it run at Bonneville!
