So this is when Pagani build a Senna... it’s just too much.

I don't know what it is about the Huayra but it just doesn't float my boat.

Love the Zonda.

This looks more purposeful and you can't deny the engineering quality, but for some reason it still leaves me cold.

Black wheels, no orange whatsover, it would look so much better.

As it is, it's like the old fella at the end of the road who can't stop putting st all over his Mondeo, has won the lottery.

Well that's garish. But if they need a new Batmobile they're mostly there.

This.
Can't help feeling the owner just wants to be seen by everyone in this...
... not that you wouldn't be seen by everyone in this if it was just back with black wheels, but...

Without the orange bits it wouldn't look far off a Gumpert Apollo in menace.

I cannot stand painted bodywork edges (like those shown in orange here), one of the worst modern design trends IMO

The original Zonda is in my top 25 Supercars of all time but the Huayra never wowed me at all.
I remember when it launched, seeing it for the first time thinking "oh, it's quite nice" - whereas even now, 20 years on, seeing a Zonda makes me weak at the knees. Though I'm sure Horacio Pagani doesn't care what I think as I'll likely never been in a position to buy any of his cars.

It seems like everyone is saying Pagani has built a Dog because of the orange accents but surely someone has requested the customisations.
Look at the one in the trailer and that looks a lot more reserved.

I loathe to say this, however Pagani seems to have fallen into a vicious circle of adding "more moreness" to its cars. Up to about a year or so ago they were my dream car, now, they seem hijacked by a few patrons who in their quest to one-up each other have transformed the cars into frankencars where form no longer follows function.

Its automotive jewellery, I get it, yet each iteration is louder and more vulgar than the last. Where is the purity of design? I always thought that the Zonda would follow the Mac F1 which followed the Miura as the ultimate collectors car, however they've even managed to dilute that as they persist in churning out one-offs which dilute the prestige of the originals. The F1 and Miura's beauty derives from their unfussy elegance (as does that of the E-type, Elan, DB5 etc).

I get that niche brands survive off a few collectors, however they should be very weary of falling into the trap of diluting their brand for short term profits. I'd be embarrassed to be seen in any of the last cars they released. It's akin to wearing an iced out Rolex vs a Patek.

I'd call it Sheikh spec. If it's shiny, garish or monstrously over the top it'll be seen in an oil rich country soon

Original early 7.3S in blue with white interior. Then stop please.

Almost everything since has essentially been like people buying mobile phones worth ‘£1,000,000’ by sticking diamonds all over them... just so they can spend more money.

Even early on the conflict of purity was evident.

The 6.0 had a solid spoiler, the 7.3 split, and it was split to apparently make some aero improvement, so it was on the ‘faster car’

Fast forward some years to a ‘special’ and the full width spoiler is back, because it’s better for something again now.
And the wheels with little notches all around the inside of the rim for no other reason than ‘trinkets’

At that point it was clear Pagani was turning into a fancy watch maker, but with cars... not a car maker.

Not sure why clear coated carbon fibre is still thought of as 'cool' or even cutting edge. It just looks unfinished.

Much of the time it's an over-specced material for a non-stressed part that could be made from something cheaper.

And to this beholder, the car in this topic looks gash, however good the workmanship may be. Sure those who buy one will love them, though.

TVR used GRP to great effect.

I agree the engineering has turned into art for arts sake for buyers who think that is still good engineering.

Oh come on. Even if you don’t like them you can see how dramatically styled some of them were compared to what else was around.

Well if they’d taken the Pagani approach they’d have probably cost £200,000 just for the bodywork.

But hey, it’s great to look at weave all day, for weaves sake, in a car you don’t want to drive because it cost so much.

So you just park it in a garage and look at its weave.

Give me a GRP version painted bog standard silver and let me spend the savings on petrol and tyres!

Like them? I owned two of them. The shapes were nice. The quality was shocking
