I've always really liked the look of these. I'm just not sure I could quite bring myself to trade in my mk7 Fiesta ST for one. I keep thinking that I should have owned a Swift first, before I was spoiled by an abundance of mid-range grunt...
I have driven a swift sport and on a mk7 st. Always pick the st, although mine is modified to 230bhp, the swift just feels like its falling to bits, its dog slow and understeers like mad compared to the st, also even above 4k revs it doesent really go very far. The only benefit to me is it sounds awesome above 4k revs, the st even with an exhaust just sounds st in comparison.Edited by Petrolsmasher on Saturday 7th September 15:03

My mrs has a white Swift Sport and she absolutely loves it. Its a rare car, its been with us for 18 months and we've yet to see another one in white. Her one and only complaint is the lack of 6th gear.
Sounds good, how much you looking for? (sorry not sure how to PM?) molineux1980 said:
I get the code on mine - I replaced an o2 sensor, made no difference. It pops up occasionally, then I just clear it with a cheap OBD reader. Car runs great. I really fancy a Simota filter, make it sound that bit better.
I have one for sale if you want to buy it? I fitted it to my girlfriends sport but she didn't really like the noise, its done about 500 miles and I have the official cleaning kit for it too. (it sounds immense)Great cars though the Fiesta STs are, you're not being fair in comparing the two.
I'm not going to do a pros and cons list, it's been done to death, but you buy a cheaper car when you buy the Suzuki; you buy a 'warm' hatch. It's advertised as such, it is reviewed as such and it is bought as such. The 0-60 speed really isn't that much of an issue either, it's bought as a slower car.
Likewise with the comment about tracking it. Get real, no one is thinking a SSS is going to be a beast on the track in terms of lap times, but you'd still have a hoot.

I had one of these, got rid of it because I was doing lots of motorway miles, and it was absolutely deafening above 70mph. I’d love to try the newer gen one to see what it’s like with a 6th gear!
My mum had my old one from me and still has it, it’s only cost consumables and some of the cat replacing, it’s been utterly reliable and very good fun.

You'd be the slowest car at Bedford Autodrome last time I went, some very rich equipment there.
And those cars are all available for 1200 quid and super cheap to fix if anything goes bang, of course?I think people are missing the point of shed of the week, £1200 for a station car that you can have some fun in at sensible speeds on the drive home.

The Rent4Ring Swift Sports - running stock power - turn in some pretty quick times considering.

M2, M3, M4, Evos, Golf R and Audis, R8, 5x atoms among just a few, and countless Elises, etc.
300hp in saloon form just wasn't enough for me, I'd have been vastly underwhelmed with 123bhp.
There was plenty of cheaper stuff but potent too, mini s, turbo'd + N/A MX5's, old beemers 330is, older used imprezas, civic R's etc. Plenty of choice in that lower price area too, I didn't mention that as that rich stuff ( which there was no limits to seemingly) really seemed to take over
I don't recall seeing one Suzuki though tbh, there weren't many first triers/ runaround and I guess its fair to say many really focussed and seemed to have picked very appropriate equipment to make the most of it.
But sure If you after a good shopping trolley / wife/ daughters type of car (without too much power to really get you worrying about their safety), then as you mention though I'm sure you could do a lot worse than this weeks shed
What's the fuel economy like on the current model? I have the same engine in our Vitara S, amazingly that car is returning consistent high 40s bordering on 50 mpg from 95 RON unleaded. I would have thought in the smaller lighter 2wd only swift that motor should be returning low 50s. If that is the case it will be perhaps the biggest difference between generations.

Is that computer or actual?I have the middle gen Sport (6 speed no turbo). The computer says 45mpg while brim to brim is 35.
I had the previous gen 1.5GLX also and the fuel consumption was poor on that too. 40mpg when I used to get 47mpg from a 1.7 Ford Puma on the same roads and same driving style.
Its a bit of a puzzle why the consumption is so poor.

The computer on the ZC32S does lie, but it's not hard to get over 40mpg brim to brim. I'm averaging 41 mpg over 20k miles, and I have seen over 50 mpg on a tank. Some would say that I'm not trying hard enough..I have the middle gen Sport (6 speed no turbo). The computer says 45mpg while brim to brim is 35.
The ZC31S (this SOTW) is definitely thirstier, and the ZC33S (turbo) is reportedly more frugal.

I'm getting a 47.4 MPG average out of my 2018 model. That's with lots of heavy throttle usage. LOL.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
