However, it can get worse....

Possibly one of the worst looking cars ever! A way to go, but catching up BMW!

The new frontal design is for pedestrian safety requirements. It's actually a vertical trampoline, like you get at Airhop. Not sure how you would nail the landing though.......

Sorry, but I think that's pretty ugly too. BMW at least USED to know how to do kidney grilles well.

The front is the only thing worth talking about on that car. It's bland stness. Remember when you could distinguish a cars brand from the side profile? This thing could easily be a Mercedes, Audi, Lexus etc from any angle other than the front. That's not to say the front is good, its not, it's truly vile.

Which Audi looks like that? PERHAPS the Merc AMG GT, but then that's a bit different at the back due to having no rear seats. Audi.....TT or R8? Don't think so...? Merc C class coupe perhaps but I think this has a nicer side profile.

Front end is truly horrendous though.

It has channelled Vincent van Gopher from the cartoon series Deputy Dawg. I can’t load a pic. Perhaps someone could?

Shh..... He's just having an Anti-BMW rant. It's not meant to be factual let alone accurate. It's possibly break time at school. He obviously wasn't around in the 80s when all cars of this genre were just boxes and really DID look the same in all but lights.

So neither of you can see even the slightest hint of Audi A5 in that side profile? That rear quarter doesn't have the slightest resemblance to the A5 Sportback to your failing old eyes?

This thing is supposed to be a concept car. The designers opportunity to be unhindered by safety regulations and engineering limitations. That thing is unimaginative ste copied off their neighbours jotters. I'd like to see something like the e-legend from BMW.

Fortunately the 4 series won’t look anything like that. Think new 3 series with 2 less doors...... as always.

I love the insanity of that design. Some beautiful lines and then that crazy front end. Awesome stuff. I love it when BMW go a little mad.
+1

This is a concept car and its sole intention is to make a statement. To plant a flag, if you will.

Through drama and a selective use of exaggeration, the manufacturer is able to inspire and to lay claim to particular attributes. Fun is part of the equation.

Firstly, their concept cars for their production models are traditionally close to the final version, so they ARE generally hindered by safety regulations and engineering limitations. Secondly, there is a big difference between "slightest hint" and "could easily be a......".

And no, this does look very different to an A5. Maybe it's your eyes that are failing wink

One sec...

All I see is an A5 from the rear 3/4 obviously the front is beyond hideous.

I know the Chinese market go mad for big grills but surely from pedestrian safety standpoint that front end is a no goer? Eh?
