My only gripe is the cost, I just know before I even go and speak to Sytner that these will cost more than an M5 or M850i due to zero discounts and high APR finance. I totally get that Alpina do this on purpose as they don't want to sell higher volumes, just frustrating as I'd take one of these over the new M3, an M5...
I do get it, an M5 Comp is not much heavier, has a 530l boot and rear seats fold. Rwd on flick of a button... But it's an M5, for good and for worse. Maybe de-M5-ing it, find the most sheepish wheels that fit, debadge. And then proceed hiding those quad exhausts and put normal bumpers on it... The latter becomes too much for its own sake... Hard choices, if you have them.

Just lovely. I’ve never liked the Alpina stripes however. Seventies throwback on a modern car. But hardly a deal breaker. This over a Porsche all day long for me smile

Is it odd to covet one of these over a Porsche / Ferrari etc? There's just something about an Alpina that is very cool to me.
More useable?

Apart from the grill I quite like that. Great colour, love that green.

Me neither, but you can just order it without them...I just kept the front bumper set, which is a bit more subtle.

The new grilles are awful, but that green and interior is absolutely lovely.

But it comes down to cost, as has been said, you can get SILLY deals on M3s and M5s but not these. It makes the gap in affordability huge. You have to really want to be different to get one, and they are not exciting enough to be a pure 'heart' decision.

I like these. Surely you always go for the touring over the saloon? A tiny bit heavier but far more practical. I honestly don't get why BMW don't make estate M3s and M5s when Audi only makes estate versions with huge appeal.....

I'm not sure, the front grille looks a bit small.
That deserves a rofl especially after the new M3/4 grille has now been revealed!

Because they don't sell, BMW M aren't Audi RS and therefore have a different ethos, mostly the people that can't understand it have never bought a new M car and haven't bought a new RS Avant either and you can't build a business case on that.

They've tried before, it didn't work so they make M SUVs instead and sell them by the bucket load in the US etc....

Exactly. Remember that they did build the e60 as a Touring.
Not many sold so it was point proven.

I see the saloon has the same quirk as the Touring and the Frankfurt show car - the alloys on one side are different to the alloys on the other side....

Maybe this could be the next big thing...🤣🤣

E34 M5 Touring wasn't so popular either though I think maybe LHD only in the UK? It is strange though. There has never been an official factory M3 Touring (to my knowledge) and rarely an M5 either. Must be a reason why people won't buy them or why BMW perceive they won't. With Merc, Audi and BMW's offerings all looking quite similar in terms of drive trains in this sector nowadays it does stand out they don't offer estates when others do and they seemingly sell.

Ahem wink

Debadged its quite discreet. Since the F wings are only a little bit wider and the rear is standard C Class Estate

In fact in Silver its positively nondescript!

The arse end of the M3 saloon is a mess; the estate version looks a whole lot better.

Yum. 60 grand on this or on a Defender. No contest!

Am I alone in loving those 5 spoke wheels?
I love them too. I love Alpina s but am not a massive fan of the regular wheel design.

Great to see an alternative.

AND the 20" wheels look stupidly large.

It's funny how the Touring works and the Berlina doesn't.

Genuinely hate the wheels and sticker on the front lip that they forgot to change after they 80's

Looked good on the E30, hasn't looked good since.
