huh Porsche even described their car as a prototype?
As per Chris Harris's Ferrari rant a few years back, yes Porsche will have done everything to maximized their times. But to summarise:
The Plaid model S is at best what would traditionally be called an X0 or X1. It’s an existing car with a very early prototype Powertrain in. A bit like the famed XJ220 Transit. Which was a Powertrain test rig for the engine.
The Taycan prototype that did the time would have been a TT or PP car which is ‘Tooling Tryout’ or ‘Pre Prodction’. That is, it represents the production car in nearly every way, but is made ‘off line’ or still has some as yet unverified minor components.
To be fair, Porsche are pretty honest with their times. They happily admit that they tune the geometry where allowable by the production components to get the most out of the car, but they don’t go to the extremes of some who remove interiors, run more boost or tyres that aren’t actually supplied with the car.
