No such thing as a midengined two seater GT car. Never was never will be.
nonetheless this is a really nice option when the 911 turbo or R8V10 is just not special enough.

McLarens unsuccessful attempt at fitting an old square peg in a round hole...

They need new designers (body, aesthetics) and engineers (New engine/drivetrains)

Having been at the launch of this the interior is, to use a journo cliché, a very nice place to be. Quality seemed spot on and with all the additional leather it felt special. Most buyers of this will not care if it is the least dynamic of the McLaren range, they will have other cars for that, they'll buy it because they like how it looks and will most likely be existing McLaren owners anyway.

I would still have a DBS though.

Not a fan TBH. Worst looking McLaren they've produced.

And it's basically the same car as all the rest.

If I was after a real continent cruiser, I'd be buying either a Bentley or a GTC4 Lusso. Personal choice thiugh

Its an odd looking thing next to the rest of the range due to the high ride height, probably looks better in isolation, so dealers may park away from other cars on display.

It is just a GT’d up sports car though and misses the mark, I think McLaren would just have done better offering the better trimmed interior as a ‘Lux’ pack on the rest of the range though, as not everyone wants (or can put up with) the full sports style seats and trim on a daily basis.

Surely a trick variable height and ride comfort suspension pack could make it bride the gap between a sports car and 2 seat GT.

I have to confess on finding that first paragraph very hard to read and wondered if Nic Prosser had written it.

Perhaps it was a clever way of showing an analogy to the GT by simply smearing words across the page in a parody? Bring back 720S Dan. smile
Exactly my thought, got completely lost. Where is the driving experience commentary?

Woking as in the entire town? Not McLaren themselves but all of Woking ??? Get a grip. Who proofs these articles?

Tired of reading about how Dieppe did this or hethel did that.
You're not the only one.

lovely colour - that's all I can muster sadly, the rest is entirely unmemorable.

You have to wonder why McLaren residuals are being hampered by the numerous special editions and similarities between models, yet Porsche are taking the proverbial with their 911 model range.

Surely a V8 TT McLaren produced in relatively small numbers should hold its value better than a flat 6 FI Porsche?? confused

McLarens very own Lotus Europa.

It was a Lotus Elise with some extra padding and this is just the same but at a higher price point.

I do like some of the cars McLaren have produced (well the 650S LM & 675LT) , but since day one the direction/product planning has seemed a total mess.

Indeed. Pathetic reportage.

I too am bemused by this car. Looks good in the flesh but really why would you bother as an Aston dbs superleggera or db11 is far comfier and has a v12 and likely better storage.

This is not going to sell well in my opinion. Unless the yanks like it!

That's a much better spec than I've seen, actually looks quite nice in those pictures. All the launch pictures I saw were horrible, looked like such an awkward thing.

I really don't see the point in it though, unless you've got really long thin luggage. I'd take a proper GT instead, a Bentlety Conti GT for me or and Aston DB11. Propably the Bentley though, I always want for the Aston until I see the interior....

A great looker - but sure enough, it is an "in-between car" - Not GT enough to worry Aston etc.

Had a few drive past me the other day - remarkably quiet from the outside as well!

This just shows how much Aston have lost their way. This or a DB11, the Macca is a no brainer.

I'm fairly sure that most buyers will have an idea what to expect from this car. McLaren probably know their market quite well. A fair number of customers will probably already own more hardcore machinery, and are buying this for cruising across Europe, popping to the shops, or just because they can. Little point in those who are not in a position to buy one trying to rationalise its existence or purpose.

I like the looks of it, but I'm not overly keen on the rims pictured here.

‘And if you're resorting to a two-letter soubriquet so route one it makes hoofing the ball from deep inside your own half towards the opposition's box seem like intricate play, is it at all possible the car you're flogging is just a little bit confused?’

I am at least as confused as the car... I thought I was having a stroke half-way through that sentence.
