I had the use of one last week, it was easy to break traction at the rear even in the dry and not having 'foot to the floor'.

The driving wheels are going to lose traction before the undriven wheels in the wet which ever end they are imo.

Sorry, going back to the Ferrari, does anyone know if the car got out OK, wasn't too damaged?
Before we do, just want to say that I’m right in this case and everyone else is in denial, I’ve been on the road for 9 years, driving various different cars with different configurations, the BMW’s have been the most unnerving in the wet and one of them spun out on the M25.

It doesn’t matter what it could be, to an average driver such as myself, the BMW is the most prone to an accident. That’s why I love them though, keep me on my toes! M4 soon biggrin

Cheers let’s get back to the ferrari

Although I disagree, you're now talking about something entirely different. Are you sure you were talking about aquaplaning earlier in the thread and not just sliding around on a wet road?... As stated before, I've been driving since 1994 and racing since 2001 and I've only aquaplaned twice in that entire time - it's a very specific and quite rare thing.

If we're still talking about aquaplaning, it more depends on the tread depth, tyre spec, weight...

Generally driving in the wet it depends what you're doing, accelerating, braking, cornering...

Riiiiiiiight.

That’s why we see so many abandoned at the side of the roads when it’s been/is raining.

The point being, you're a crap driver!

I really wouldn't buy an M4, you'll hate it. If you can't even control a 4 series diesel you have no hope, seriously.

Why do you want an M4? Really, a genuine question. I worry for your and other road users' safety. For God's sake spend some money on driver training rather than a new car.

Not surprised. Your rear tyres were down to the markers by your own admission at the time. Which is the obvious root cause of your spin, not RWD. At 1.6mm you barely have 25% of the water displacement capacity of a tyre with 6mm. Surprised you didn't spin at a lower speed actually.
