Sales are strong ,a targa panel roof would be my only ask hope they make one .
I can’t see that being a difficult thing to achieve. If it’s a glass panel then it will add a bit of weight but shouldn’t be too significant.

I get the impression it's on the cards. My fear is that they will need to put so much extra weight in to retain enough stiffness that it's USP will be significantly eroded. They will probably have to replace the current flying buttress with a structural central tunnel and add a roll hoop at the rear. I suppose a 50kg weight penalty would be OK - but I'd fear that the weight penalty would be quite a lot more.

Looking at the structure it seems the alloy outer frame could stay and the inner composite panel could be replaced by two glass panels with a central alloy or composite beam?

That would work but it wouldn't be a proper targa roof if the outer frame remained.

I think it would be a good compromise to keep the weight down.

Maybe they could just give it a big removable smoked finish polycarbonate sunroof moulded to follow the roof lines? That would offer the least weight penalty and if you could store it behind the seats or something then you’d have at least a bit of a wind in the hair compromise.

I’d not like to see an A110 hobbled by a weight penalty and a lack of stiffness.

The colour looks great Dan, where on a Porsche it would not , just because everyone has a blue A110. No need for blue brake calipers either. Once you go grey you never go back, so my wife tells me. Or dark grey or black, something along those lines.

Of course now the Alpine S has come out you need to take it up to Litchfield for a bit of extra goodness, they have some big Alpine style hills and mountains up there after all, compared to France. Give it some lungs.

The grey is very slinky, and I don't think it misses the blue calipers or the A logos on the wings - which is a relief, as mine has neither (but is blue).

Enjoy!

Grey or blue only 2 sensible options. Mine is blue - sorry- like apparently 70% of sales.
Only done 1000 miles in 2.5 months, yes that's pathetic I know!
Love the car love the ethos behind it love the rarity....and when you meet someone who knows what it is, it's wow time, they are just bowled over to actually see one.
Interesting point about 'running in' because I was told by the dealer don't worry about it, and it was only when I read the manual it said otherwise... by then too late.
Enjoy it's a great car.

I know an Italian who builds race engines. When I showed him the car and told him I was running it in he said “if you run it in slowly then it will be a slow engine”. I couldn’t possibly comment as I want the warranty cover!!!

Congratulations on the car! It looks fantastic.

Interesting to read about your thoughts on taking a brand new car out into the wild. I’ve just ordered my first brand new car (Focus ST estate), and as I take a lot of pride over my cars and fuss over every mark etc, I have wondered if my OCD will make me a gibbering nervous wreck. I’m pretty confident I’ll get over it though....at least a bit.

Enjoy the car!

I’ve only had my abyss blue Pure for a couple of weeks; just like Dan this was my first new out of the showroom car and certainly I have been nervous driving it but I managed to scratch an alloy on the day I collected it; that has gone some way to reduce how precious I am about it. It is, however, living in my garage and I use a 13-year-old Shogun to do all the B-road and unclassified road driving that I do every day. The last time I looked, I’d done less than 300 miles.

Congratulations with your new Alpine! The color is beautiful.

I own an A110 since July and absolutely love it. It is a car that had to grow on me though. Initially,
I found it somewhat too soft and silent, despite having opted for the sports exhaust (with the particulate filter on it here in Belgium). However, after having driven it for 4000 miles now, it feels perfect. It darts around as an MX-5 but with the extra urge. Cornering is simply fantastic. Looking forward to read your feedback. Good luck with the car!

I think a white one would be an interesting car. I declined to purchase one this year because I felt that the car wasn’t as hardcore as an Elise which I had wanted for a long time.

What is interesting is that I still really fancy one now that I own the Lotus. It seems like the A110 has a special personality of its own.

For me I think the new S model will perhaps be the one.

After looking at boring new options for transporting te family today, the B110 (Berline) appeared to me in a vision.

Not the colour to pick for most I'm sure but I'd definitely spec it too, lovely choice.

Love the car and the grey and blue colours suits it whilst the white makes the car look pretty lardy and awful. I reckon a candy metallic red would look delicious too.
