It's a shame Polestar/Volvo don't do (or at least advertise) an RS4 competitor, because I secretly have a thing for Volvo estates ever since borrowing a 2.0T V70 a decade or so back...
Limited massively by the transverse engine layout and the fact with a couple of people sat in it, it wasn't far off 2 tonnes.Remember its based on the same platform as the XC60, Freelander and to a certain extent even the 'new' platform in the Evoque. Just see how heavy that is still compared to its rivals.
Impacts, performance, handling, brakes, fuel economy etc do could never take the fight to M3, RS4 etc.
My Polestar D4 awd auto (2.4 5 cylinder diesel) with 220bhp would struggle for low 30's day to day when a 330D is considerably quicker and at least 10mpg better. So not doubting the shocking mpg of the owners on the Polestar V60 in these comments
A 6 pot one of these had been marked a long time ago as a purchase once they were down to somewhere between 15-20k but they are still a minimum of 25k, seems crazy but somethings keeping the values on them high even when other fast estates are 10k less for the same year and arguably better.

Because there are fewer than 100 and we all want one! Krise said:
My car is actually the sister car to the one in the photos, the 1st press car, mine was drove by VBH around Anglesey for 5th gear
Heavy old barge mind.

Just moved mine on after 2 years and about 18k miles, averaged 17.6 mpg over the time I owned it but I do live in central London
Such a sleeper, no one knows what they are or have never seen one, aside from the Volvo meets I have only seen one on the road ever.
Tight knit group of owners who are all good guys and active on the Facebook groups.

There a cracking car, make an awesome noise

I've never had an issue with the MPG, Mine averages 30MPG and 35+ on long journeys. Like many V60 Polestars, mine's also been tweaked to 400BHP

VED is bloody awful due to having an RRP above £40,000, goes down to £140-£150ish after 5 years
Isn't that only for cars registered after 01.04.2017? Before that you're stuck with the £555-or-whatever - forever. Krise said:

A photo from the Volvo 600 when I think we had the most Polestars in one place ever, I think there was 28 of us of at one point,

"But the Volvo had more boot space"
Bit suprised at this, the V60 i known to have a small boot, only 430l, for a heavy estate. It suprises me every time it's not bigger... but it's practical i shape at least.
Yeah, boot was small. Had a V60 Cross Country awd. Have a Seat Leon ST now and it dwarfs it.Bit suprised at this, the V60 i known to have a small boot, only 430l, for a heavy estate. It suprises me every time it's not bigger... but it's practical i shape at least.
I do regret quite frequently not buying a car of a class size above for example a V70. It's not that the V60 is a bad car because it's actually a great daily drive and with the seats down its hugely practical but I found when I went to Cornwall for 2 weeks in the summer with the wife and two kids in the back to car was very close to bursting. I actually thought the rear windscreen may go it was so full. Hopefully on the next big holiday I won't need a pushchair and it should ease things somewhat.
