I thought that site would be useful so popped my XJ6 X350's VIN into it comes back with a totally different car.
Same thing happened to me. Apparently my 2000 LS400 is a 2005 Corolla.
Ross? Is that you?

Slightly scruffy but pleasingly colourful W140 S320 for 2 bags pre-haggle.

The link isn't working for me but that looks desirably LS400-like*, but with the implicit classy plutocratic fk you peasant vibe that is so very appealing.

Hard to resist, especially in that colour.

* wink

I hadn't realised that these had got under £2k

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Soon to be shed of the week money.

I love the fact that Autotrader say its 5,912 miles above average, rather than concentrating that it has had less than 11 owners ! coffee Less than 11 owners is always a winner in my book, especially if it has all that slightly germanic walnut veneer that the airline Emirates subsequently went with to pop into their A380's.

What the feck, you know it's going to cost you an arm and a leg anyway, but you can at least get comfortable in the seats after your wife throws you out of the house and puts in "parental controls" on Pistonheads forum......

Ironically both this car and an Emirates Airbus A380 are as cheap as chips second hand. Thanks to that walnut veneer..... oh, and being big old smoker barges.

Leggy, but full spec and a rather nice colour. Worth keeping an eye on, with a view to a post-Christmas punt of around 4 grand.

But you can afford 2 Phaetons for that one car? Or one with £2k for keeping it running.

And only the Phaeton would be a talking point at a PH meet ....

Falls into the just because you can ...* category for me I think.

* Actually the ambiguity might be unhelpful. So, to be clear, don't.

At the minimum needs 2 new front tyres, new front suspension control arms, amd 1 of the shocks is leaking, so it could do with basically a front suspension rebuild, soon if not immediately.

I fear that the st wheels are an indicator of the life it may have led a succession of previous owners.

"Variable charges may apply",

Like the other 50% of the price you'd expect even a drugged out one of these to be up at?

I like the green. If it's true what they say about Phaeton running costs then I'd want at least 10 cylinders of misery.

This.

The significance of the st wheels is far more than merely the presence of the st wheels

Sooooo not a popular choice?
It was just something that popped up, seems £2k will buy a nice looking one.
I don't think I'll ever find a decent sub £2k barge other than a lexus.

Evening everyone, in my last post, 2 years ago I had 7.8 litres of German barge in the garage and now I find myself with 8.3 litres of Japanese barge.
For no other reason other than curiosity I sold the W124 for an LS400 which I am really enjoying. It’s lovely to drive, to be inside and to look back at. Now for no other reason than curiosity I have bought a 430.
Fellow threadist Euan and I struck a deal on his 227k mile 430 featured a few pages ago and as well as displaying great patience in waiting for me to organise collection he also put enough petrol in for me to make an extended maiden voyage on arrival in Somerset. What a gent.
And what a car.
It has worn its miles incredibly well - only ever been to a Lexus garage- and I have not yet found a fault. The rear of the cabin is particularly impressive with electric recline, heated and massage seats.
Astonishing amount of car for the money.
I plan to run it for a year or maybe less as I’m already looking at the recent interest here in the 460.
Anyway must sell the 400 first!

I have been looking for a decent one of these for a reasonable price for years, but they are always rusty the dog. That one isn’t even that far away from me, but I am meant to be selling my Mercedes, not buying another one, or even replacing the one I already have.....

Lovely looking garage and the contents aren't bad either.
