Interesting comments ref the 645. I’ve been looking wistfully at 630 models for a while thinking they could be ok to run. We’re most of the issues engine related or are they tricky models? Unfamiliar of how the suspension differs between models.

All went well. He knocked £150 off for the mirror. Sale went smoothly and the drive back was absolutely fine. It's certainly got a fair bit of poke, that's for sure! Car seems to run well, no notable issues I can think of. Will run it for a month or so and then perhaps get it booked in for a gearbox oil change. The only issue I'm finding is that the radio doesn't appear to "seek" stations, yet if you manually tune to a station it works absolutely fine, which is weird. Other than that it drives really well, no vibrations or noises, gearbox is smooth, engine pulls very, very strongly....the way it gets up to 100 is quite alarming. On reflection, I think it is noticeably quicker than the 745i was. Probably helped by having an 8 speed gearbox rather than 6.

I have only taken 2 photos so far, the obligatory forecourt photo, and one just as I was collecting it from the MOT station with the dealer

I'll get some more photos at some point and do a reader's car thread at some point soon.

Hopefully it proves to be reliable! As others have said, it doesn't have the most amount of character by any means, but it is a very good barge. It's also fking huge compared to the Toyota laugh

Nice one Ross, and welcome to the Lexus disciples club. We'll have you in an SC430 before you know it.

Ross, I guess that you are safely home now. It’s probably worth fiddling with the mirror and its motor; not exactly a high tech feature, but very useful for manoeuvring through narrow gates etc.
I’m not alone in being interested in how this pans out. All the “premium” brands seem to have cyclical ups and downs, for impecunious / tight fisted bargistas the key is to know which was on top ten - fifteen years ago. Good fortune with it, keep us posted.

fat chance rofl

I have just had a fiddle with the radio by finding the frequencies for my favourite stations and have manually added them and they work absolutely fine.

What I will say is.....jesus H christ the rear leg room is insane! Definitely more roomy than the E65 but likewise, a noticeably smaller boot (also due to the rear fridge). The rear seats are also heated and cooled, can be reclined, raised/lowered and the rear headrests are also electrically adjustable using THAT rear arm rest.

We've got a works function in 2 weeks time....I'll be driving from Portsmouth to Bournemouth.....had already agreed to give 2 of our receptionists a lift.....they'll be going in a bit more luxury than a Corolla now laugh

It's not an exciting car but it is a lovely place to spend some miles. I will drive it over the next 2-3 weeks, find out if there are any niggles and then get it booked in with Micheldever tyres. I will likely get the gearbox oil changed and, as a precaution, get the drain holes cleared for the sunroof and other drain holes.

I've just ordered this one

No fag socket needed.

I'll report back.
It works, it's noisy, it seems very cheaply made but it does come will a million different valve fastenings, and both a battery and fag lighter option, so very well equipped.

Super easy to use, took about 4 minutes to take a tyre from 21PSI to 35PSI, and the battery lasted enough to top up all four tyres.

It certainly does the job, but not sure how long it will last.

You can tell this thread is just

"I am an old old bloke who has nothing better to do than look at the classifieds for something that is dirt cheap but will eventually prove that my wife was right all along"

Aldi had such things in the other day. I have one that I bought a couple of years ago from Aldi and it's still going strong. Goes up to 87PSI. The battery doesn't last long if you're going to higher pressures though

That's less confrontational than it was before you edited it ;-)

I really like that - much nicer than the usual silver/black and black interior.

I like it too, far less kebab and jet ski than most.

Very reassuring ad, great reason for sale and a decent price. Palm trees probably add a grand, but I'd buy it.
