Interesting comments ref the 645. I’ve been looking wistfully at 630 models for a while thinking they could be ok to run. We’re most of the issues engine related or are they tricky models? Unfamiliar of how the suspension differs between models.
I had a 645 for four and a half years.
Loved the car. I had most of the faults that they suffer from and almost all of them are engine related.

The 630 would avoid all of the oil leaks etc and the 3 litre 6 is a lovely engine.

It is such a shame the N62 suffers from so many problems. It is otherwise a wonderful engine.

And yes.....I made an excuse to pop back out in the Lexus laugh I just can't believe how nice it is in the back! I don't want to drive it, I'd rather be in the back!

I have changed my username but it hasn't updated yet scratchchin

I have a long-ish drive coming up for Christmas (around 150 miles)....very much looking forward to that. I suspect this car will eat the miles really rather well.

Congratulations Ross!

I was surprised looking at the auto reader article I posted above that these have 375bhp - which I suspect is significantly more than a 745!

When they were new journalists wrote about a lack of character, etc. Back in the real world all character is often turns out to be compromise. I like the Lexus way of doing a barge. They make proper barges, and are incredibly well built.

Congratulations Ross, looks a cracking car and I hope you enjoy it with health. It will be great to read about your experiences in this and not the Corolla! It's been a long time coming smile

Long time lurker over the last few volumes but first post. This has been my go to place for a good catch up when I have the time, having had more than a few barges in the past, though some not when they were in barge territory as most of my barge motoring was 20+ years ago. I'd be happy to list my past ownership at some point if there's any interest.

Currently (for just over 3 years now) in a E63 650i which I bought at 44k and is now on 88k odd. If anyone wants any info on these (I know they've been the subject of a few discussions recently) I'd be happy to share my experience. Its probably not in barge territory just yet in terms of likely market value, but can't be far off I would imagine.

Anyway, hi all, great thread and happy to finally have posted.

It’s only a 1.4, but this BX has barge written all over it at £2k of wobbly basic loveliness.

Welcome Steve! Post some photos and a review of how you have found the 650i so far. I really like the 6 series shape (now). It's a bit of an XJS in that it is growing better looking with every year that it ages!

Thanks 0a, I'll put a summary together and some pictures of the 650i. I'm just putting a mental list of my barge past together too, so will write that down too, although as said, that spans some 25 odd years, so a lot there.

Your 320 looks magnificent, I'd absolutely love one..

It'll do, I guess wink I have been fortunate to drive several cars with considerably more power but 375bhp certainly feels adequate. As said above, certainly gets to 100 easy enough! It just makes for a more relaxing drive and makes overtaking easier. Certainly a step up from the 1.6 Corolla rofl

I'm a little disappointed that no-one has tapped-up Ross for first dibs on the Corolla to be honest.

It would have certainly been a reliable run around for someone, but not a barge by any means.

One thing I didn't realise about the LS was quite how advanced they were.
Radar cruise, auto parking, Lane assist etc not bad for a 12 year old car.
I've always been put off from older cars with lots of gadgets but I assume being a lexus, the stuff is pretty robust?

I'm jealous, I want one. More pictures required.

The thing is it’s not just a 12 year old car, it’s a 12 year old car that cost around 100k new.
Things like S class Mercedes came with similar levels of tech, it used to be the case that if you wanted to know what normal cars would have in 10 years you just looked at the current S class.

I haven't taken any more of the exterior but here are a few of the interior at night - please excuse the potato camera!

Still the case I think. Although judging by reviews the new A8 is better than the S Class.....although I think the S is due for renewal in another year or 2.

£70k from what I've read but yes I get your point.
I've just always had issues with range rovers or old mercs almost always because of the electrics.
